When was the last time you went on a bus?

August 1994. I know for a fact it was then because it was bank holiday weekend and we desperately (of course) needed to get to a club in Leeds and couldn't get a taxi despite over an hour trying. Haven't been on one since.
I remember the desperation to get to 'The Music Factory' vividly.
And prior to that would have been 1988 (school days) I think.

Joking aside, that is absolutely one of the great things about public transport.And as a beer drinker and pub goer, buses are invaluable in getting around when you're enjoying a few pints.

Yep. I have decided to have Friday afternoon off. Ill hit the pub at 1pm to see my friends and have maybe 4-5 pints then jump on a train home. If you can avoid having to use a car, then it leaves you free to have a drink whenever you want.

About 12-14 years back, we got on a bus in Algester, Qld. to go the 20 km to Brisbane.
The bus was empty, around lunchtime.
As I asked the driver for two tickets to Brisbane City Centre, I showed him my Freedom Pass, and said, “I can go from one side of London to the other for nothing with this.”
He said, “Is that right mate, well put your money away and sit down, if you’re good enough for London, you’re good enough for Brissie!”

Very good points. I had the experience of living in Tottenham a good few years ago. It took me about 45 minutes to drive to Putney. I now live in the shires, I can get to Waterloo by train, in about 45 minutes, or to Victoria by bus, in a couple of hours. I’d rather have the couple of hours in the bus, or 45 minutes on the train, because I can use the time productively ( or having a beer or 2 ). Sold a car to a chap who flew into Edinburgh. He took it from the airport, I jumped on a rather swanky airline bus to the city centre, walked 200yes via Costa then jumped on another express service to within a few miles of home. About a fiver all in and totally painless and surprisingly quick too.
I sometimes leave the car at work, jump on the bus to the city centre and back again... far easier than trying to find parking or bending yet another wheel on Edinburghs comically crap roads. Granted, sometimes a few characters are doing their best to uphold Scottish bus traveller stereotypes... and pensioners seem the core demographic .
One evening, two yoofs missed the fact it was an express service and said "We're getting aff at the traffic lights mate" and the driver replied, deadpan "Are ye f**k... sit doon"
They did.

What a silly childish comment & a stupid generalisation. For example at an airport instead of being taken in a bus to or from a waiting aircraft you would … rather die. Perhaps you have your own private jet.
One day instead of dying you get too old to drive or heaven forbid you lose your mobility so you will I assume get taxi's or private hire cars everywhere - lucky you.

I was there, naturally, and my wife was there, I have no idea what prompted him to tell me to put my money away, sit down, and have a freebie on him, but he did, and may my grandchildren be struck blind if I was making it up.
I reiterate, I can’t prove it to you, if you don’t wish to believe it, that’s your choice, carry on and knock yourself out.
first time in maybe 18 years mondsy this week. Train cancelled, was told ticket accepted on the bus it was not. Ten mins to travel maybe a mile, then rest of jounrey (6 miles) maybe 20 mins.
It was slow but did the job, but I just do not see it as a viable alternative. Slow, have to travel to the bus stop, the end stop is not where i want to be, uncomfortable.

Apart from the airport ones, the last time would have been in 2001, with the first time being in 1999. The only period in my adult life that I never owned a car having just moved to London from South Africa - where I had never been on a bus. I guess I've probably been on a bus less than 10x in my life.
