TX.
No, but then we aren't told we have too.
Yes clearly business as usual ...

You should only leave the house for very limited purposes:

shopping for basic necessities, for example food and medicine, which must be as infrequent as possible
one form of exercise a day, for example a run, walk, or cycle - alone or with members of your household
any medical need, including to donate blood, avoid or escape risk of injury or harm, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person
travelling for work purposes, but only where you cannot work from home

TX.
And none of those you can do in the house 24/7. You are a very broken record.

I have been using clippers (a number 1) to cut my own hair for the last 10+ years, piece of piss. Just keep the comb flat to the head and go over multiple times, with the grain, against it, sideways, etc. Towards the end I will check with mirrors to look at sides and back to see if any is missed and run a flat hand all over the scalp which picks out any longer bits surprisingly well. Go back and finish any missed bits. It really is difficult to cock up and if you do no one is actually going to notice even if you go out somewhere public. Not once in all the years I have done it has anyone ever said "who cut your hair? Stevie Wonder? They've missed a bit"

So you used to only leave the house when you absolutely had to? You used to only drive to work and nowhere just for fun? You only went out once a day to exercise close to home? You never went for a wander around shops or go to a pub/restaurant? You didnt meet up with mates?

Sounds like you have a fun life!

I haven't shaved since this business all started. Might go for the Castaway look.

Fact is I'm thinning on top and its probably an ideal opportunity to start cutting it shorter. But will a cheap beard trimmer do the job or will I need a better/proper set of clippers?

I had a long overdue haircut booked for the day after Boris announced the lockdown... As this is almost certainly going to go on longer than 3 weeks... I bit the bullet yesterday and zero’d it all off laugh

Since I was misquoted, I said since the racing was cancelled.
Worked monday - wed nights last week. End of the week spent sorting the garden, popped to the shops and to Parkers to get some bits. Been to the post office.
Sorted some bits on both racecars. Back to the shops sunday to get my lunches for this week. Been on the normal 12 hour days this week.
Cant see how I would have spent that any differently otherwise.

Appreciate the tips! I tend to alternate between 1 sides 3 top and 1 sides finger length scissor cut on top. Might have to let her loose with a 2 all over!
Try a 5 first, the 3 might be shorter than you’re expecting...

Ah, well I used to meet up with friends in pubs and restaurants and go for a drive just for fun, so ive noticed the difference. I also used to get my haircut by someone who knew what they were doing!

Go for clippers, they will do the job quicker and cost won't be much more than a beard trimmer anyway.

KInd of going for a "hobo chic" look.

I already have the beard trimmer hence my question, but yes might be worth investing!

This, I've been doing mine for 15 years, started #4 now down to wet shave. It really isn't as complicated as some are making out if you're going same length all over. A handheld mirror so you can check the back is useful, but as said above running your hand over your head tells you if you've missed any.
I'm pretty confident that clippering yourself will give better results than your partner hacking at it with the kitchen scissors, but looking forward to seeing some of the results laugh

It's easier getting someone else to do as someone else already pointed out, doing a decent job of the back is nigh on impossible on your own.
It’s not that difficult.

I have an undercut at the moment, but when my hair was shorter on the top I used to blend it in without too much drama, and trim the top with scissors.

I get more compliments about my hair now than I ever have done.

What I’ve never tried at home is a skin fade. Maybe in the summer.

I used to shave my hair down to a 1 about a decade ago. I takes twice as long as someone else doing it but if you're careful you can do a good job. I'm strongly considering it at the moment. I usually get my hair cut at work and that was due two weeks ago. I have another appointment book for four weeks time but doubt that'll happen. Bite the bullet now and it'll grow back in time for a reasonable cut... maybe
