When will we be able to go to the pub again?

Why are you here, is it just to try to wind people up?
It’s truly humbling to see your dedication to the church of me, however, I think you would be better off finding something else with which to fill your days. I like engineering. I don’t like white goods. If the ‘fix’ involves a laptop, it’s not good, if it involves hitting it with a hammer, I’m in. I particularly like Japanese tractors with fruity engines, and mental Yankee stuff that run on stuff that dissolves tarmac. Anything else is purely for entertainment. Why are you here, is it just to try to wind people up?

I had a very nice afternoon outside of a Marina side bar today. It was a bit windy, but I’ll take that. I really hope this is an irreversible process, I’m getting used to the way things are again. I actually prefer the limited numbers / booking thing, to rammed bars / restaurants.
The numbers being down may have something to do with you being there. Maximus_Meridius101 said:

So you want to relinquish the ability to just nip into a pub or restaurant when you're out and about? No spontaneity?

You prefer it when pubs and bars have less capacity and increased wage costs, making it borderline profitable for many? That's if they can even open at the moment? You will find you will have less choice and increased prices if things continue in the way in which you want.
Be careful for what you wish for.

Tbh I remember just a couple of years ago being subjected to ten minute queues to get served in some bars on a Friday/Saturday night, after this Covid pandemic if a bar doesn't have an app for table service then I won't be attending.
You might be living a lonely existence.21st Century Man said:
I have to say I'm liking the app ordering in the plastic pubs and chains, something that was with developing anyway, but the pandemic has accelerated it's use. I was always seemingly invisible at the bar.
I like the apps, but I also like not having to use an app - I wouldn't not go to a place if it didn't have one. I'm with you with the bar thing. Without wishing to sound all "PH powerfully built" I do have a bar presence but I was getting increasingly annoyed at the people who hang around at the bar with all their mates after ordering and receiving a round (or worse order a Guinness last!) Fair enough if it's a quiet country pub where there aren't likely to be crowds of people but not in a busy place! I think stamping out barflies is the only good thing Covid has given us...

The numbers being down may have something to do with you being there. It can be a pain in the arse though. I was out with some friends yesterday e-beercycling. There are a variety of very nice pubs with nice views etc accessible from the moorland trails, at the best of these although there were empty tables we couldn’t indulge in a swift pint as we hadn’t booked. To be fair it only happened the once and given the weather that was quite surprising.
Golf clubs can be a great choice if you just want a beer or two. Most welcome non-members, most have a licence for alcohol very early doors, most have and outside drinking area and most willl not need any kind of booking.
Don't rock up in jeans and a t-shirt, but having worked in golf for many years I can honestly say that very few these days won't welcome casual visitors.

I haven't that much experience of golf clubs, but not good beer in the few I've visited. Don't rock up in jeans and a t-shirt, but having worked in golf for many years I can honestly say that very few these days won't welcome casual visitors.
