Dicky’s Last OP

Had the Royal College of Triviality read my resignation letter thoroughly they would have realised I am resigning my post as President effective 30th July 2020 – which is this year, towards the end of July. Instead, they - discourteously in my view - sent a sort of form letter thing advising me that as the Trivial Thread has become a World Beating Entertainment Entity it can no longer be classed as Trivial and unless a new, less significant, more trivial, Head of Trivia can be found to replace me the thread risks being reclassified as “Tell Us Something About Your Life” by omitting the words Really Trivial. Further, the College insists this new leader must be in place by 31st July or 1st August at the latest (or later still by agreement) by a fair process of canvassing, lobbying and voting, utilising the tried and tested First Past the Post Box method or a straw poll or drawing of straws whichever the landlord of the Adder & Bow deems more appropriate. According to the Society’s Constitution, in the event of a tie, a duel must be held where the outgoing President is barred from participating in any capacity; even as a second. The cheek of it. May I just say I have greatly enjoyed being President of the Society and Holder of the Key to the Secret Cupboard since 2010 and propose, with your approval, to continue as Caretaker Manager until the start of the new season. Until 30th July, then. Marvellous.

May I just take this opportunity to say, it's been an honour, a privilege and a fantastic time under your firm but fair guiding hand, when I stumbled into the Trivial thread I needed some relief from a time in my life which was dragging me down, I not only found that relief I found friends, silliness and great Triviality and knowledge, but above all I found a place to relax and have fun, thank you.

Now I really do need to go to bed, night chaps!!!!

Oh, that's nice. I do all that and you've taken up the whole bed. Bobbers, shift over. Robbo, what are thinking, mate? Come on, play the game.

Sake.

Who's that, by the way? Big fella. Is he with us? I won't turn the light on.

The sooner we get back to trivia the better I’m as guilty as the next in posting news of huge major world events in my day but one must remember in the big scheme we are all trivial.

Stranger than fiction or just plain old trivial?

Projecting the numbers until the end of July to the thread's 10th anniversary I see the total number of posts will be a shade over 365,000. That is to say an average posting rate of 100 per day for ten years. Nice, isn't it? Or spooky. Or trivial. One of those.

Morning all.

May I be the first to have a good bounce upon this new volume?

There we go. It's a nice shade of Battleship Grey too. Very chic.

Perhaps, but if you could encourage him to not shake it all over we would be grateful.
