I have recently discovered pre-revolutuonary writer/philosopher Denis Diderot who has some great quotes, including:

"Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest."

A fair point, but I think there's a subtle difference of meaning, and I prefer my reading. smile YMMV

Also a fair point, especially as his court martial actually acquitted Byng of personal cowardice ... a pretty sad episode really.
