High of 23c here today. I think we've reached the cliff though, it's started getting cold over night, and next week should see the first freezes.
We've fallen over it , mid 20's and deck beers last Saturday now well below zero for highs , and it's snowing . Winter has arrived

I'm sure I've posted before, but the great storm of 87 was not a hurricane, so Fish was right. We've never seen a hurricane here.

Meanwhile, Atlantic returns next week. Wetter, windier, warmer.

Warm and a bit blowy here in East Berks and for the time being dry although there was some wet stuff earlier on.

I've got the office window open for a bit of fresh air. Not even remotely chilly!

Mild and breezy in Surrey and managed a cheeky mow of the grass. Grass a little bit damp but not wet.

Used to get some frosts in September up here.

20th October now and still no sign of the first one.

The all season tyres are due to arrive this week so I’m afraid that pretty much cancels any prospect of cold or even snowy weather.

Saw 19 degrees on my way home...silly warm.

Emailing with a chap today in the Pyrenees who is expecting winds of 150kmh tonight!

I told him to go to the basement with a bottle of Armagnac...

Lovely on the Fylde today until about 2pm.

Managed a very pleasant bike ride in shorts prior to the wet weather arriving.

Hurricane Epsilon looking likely to disrupt half term frown

We've booked a house in Hayling Island for 3 nights - really don't want to have that ruined!

It's bloody wet today, even nipping out to the garage was enough.

Pugs, what's the longer term like? I see Matt Hugo is posting a lot of pressure charts and the like, but I can't make head nor tail of them.

Short/Medium = Atlantic
Long term in to Nov - most money erring towards high(er) pressure.

Matt Hugo's tweets today further amplifying the chances of high pressure in Nov.

Some of you may have seen pics of water spouts in Greece over the last few days - this one is incredible:

Bad news for the weekend - more yuck... https://twitter.com/bbcweather/status/131916662989...

Also at the end of the vid, you can see ex-Hurricane Epsilon start to appear mid-Atlantic. That will affect us mid-week.

Got a text from the marina on Tuesday about Storm Barbara and that we should check and maybe double up ropes on the boats. Can’t see anything violent on Auntie’s forecast for this area (Highest wind 18 on Saturday), so a little confused why we are getting warnings.

Had a very quick look at t’internet and is seems to have been coming up from Spain, to hit us yesterday. Anyone notice or was this just another warning that we might get some fairly normal U.K. October weather?

Yesterday was indeed Barbara, the rain was far worse than the wind. Worst winds were off the south coast, so was precautionary rather than expected.
