I was walking the dogs the other day and walked down a road I don't often go down, I spotted a van which for me is one of the most "council" things to own a modified Vauxhall Astra Van like below
anyway the houses on the road are quite nice, nice gardens etc, apart from this one house, where the modified Astra van is parked across the grass on the garden, complete with muddy tyre marks. Even though they have a drive and space outside.
Reason why I say they are council, usually driven by blokes who wear caps full tilt on their head and smoke roll ups.

One of the new build sites I work on,got chatting to the painter today who was telling me that he had to do a customer repair this morning (social housing) booked in for 10am, due to the lady who lives in the house being somewhat....not normal, there has to be 2 people present at all times while any maintenance is carried out (she has in the past accused trades of groping her etc), the repair was due to mould in one of her teenage sons bedroom behind the bed, they enter the dark and smelly bedroom to be greeted by said son still in bed and refusing to get up!
They promptly exited the property and due to the smell of cat piss/smoke/undescribable they now refuse to go back

We plastered a bedroom ceiling once with the tnt still in bed He refused to get up so we sheeted him up and cracked on.
Yes we have loads of houses where it’s two staff etc only for a whole host of reasons
We were trying to fit a bathroom last year. The lady kept smashing it up with a hammer as done. Smashing sanitary gear up, tiles. Her flat with thick with dope smoke ( medical reasons : you call the police I don’t care)
Finally she smashed the wc up on a Thursday. We still have a duty to help. Can’t leave her with no facilities Couldn’t get in, threats abuse etc
I left her till the Monday to teach her a lesson with no wc. I took a punt on that one but it worked !
I’d say it’s 1/100 homes that have a genuine building defect that causes damp/mould. It’s always how people live that cause the bother. Generally in some festering unventilated wet fag ridden pet filled chaos.
With a mrs browns boys poster or wall clock up.

I was thinking the same watching the people on the news complaining about the damp in their flats. Stopping damp in flats takes a lot of effort, heating and open windows. The ground floor flat in my old block had so much condensation on the windows water was running down them. I they may've been using a paraffin heater or something, as I could smell something walking past their front door.
Whilst I agree black mould seems a particularly council trait.
We are in rental - we sold a few months ago and are waiting to move to the new place. Black mould is appearing all over the place, despite having the (stty) radiators on all the time, and plenty of ventilation.
Never had it in properties I've owned. This is in an expensive listed conversion. Not designed for modern finishes and limited airflow etc. Some rentals are just years of bodging covered in paint.

In a big enough block, the black mould might actually not be coming from your place. The spores carry really easily, and it could be someone living scummy in the close vicinity that’s causing the issue. We are in rental - we sold a few months ago and are waiting to move to the new place. The summer council season is almost upon us, anyone seen a council type driving their car whilst bare chested yet?
Alas a couple of weeks back, like the first Swallow of summer, there he was at the bus stop, malnourished & bare chested with grubby grey tracksuit bottoms.bluezedd said:
Also, I wonder if anyone else on here has read this thread and realised that they're a bit council. I know I have.
Oh god yes, that's par for the course. But you've now recognised your inner Council, so you are cleansed.
It's those who refuse to accept that something is council that there's no hope for.
Or Dogstar. He can never be cleansed.
