Miller and Carter is a very strange one - in the South it tends to have the same kudos as a Wetherspoons but its the complete opposite in the North.

They are more commonly part of larger new home developments in the North where the house prices are considerably higher (3-4x+) than the average in the area and are more like up-market local pubs that do decent steak and cocktails.

Had to internet search who Miller and Carter are. I had no idea.

Many years ago, daughter pier went to a Miller and Carter after they'd took over a nice large pub near us. She saw the Waitress at the pass eating chips off their plates at the before coming to their table.

Evening didn't end well .

That`s when we went to our local one. Got there just after they opened and it wasn't too bad. Food and service was good and the only other customers seemed to be business types.

I crave your indulgence gentlemen. It appears I was ill-informed.

The dining arrangements were in fact Chef and Brewer.

Not at all bad. Service a bit hit and miss due to insufficient staff, but food very nice. For main, I had sea bass Florentine. Couldn't fault it.

They don't allow dogs in, massaged or not I have been to the one up by Cribbs and it was OK. Although I was still traumatised from a trip to the Mall
