If they're not proper denim then they're not jeans, they're trousers. And they're "blue jeans", not "jeans".

90% of the price goes on marketing and bullst with any brand product. Total potluck if it happens to also be a well made product.

UK high street is for midgets. Cannot buy 36" inside leg off the peg anywhere. Gap used to do 36" in store, more only online. They're adequate, inexpensive and they happen to fit me. Whoopee. For something a fraction smarter, their chinos are OK too.

If I'm going to spend a hundred plus on a pair of trousers, I get them tailored. It doesn't compute with me to blow money on off the peg because brand, when the same money, or indeed less, can get you something smart-casual custom made.

For something a bit upmarket, Diesel do their range of performance/comfort jeans using the same denim blend but they are around £300.

Jesus! I only wear diesel jeans and have 10/15 pairs (which I send out for repair as needed) so the last set I purchased was about 130gbp and that was only about 8 years ago. How the heck are they now 300+ a pop!

Where can you get tailored custom made trousers for £100?

Not sure I've ever seen a post contain so much unrelated nonsense.

The UniQlo EZY Jean, or the Diesel Jogg Jean are jeans. They are sold as jeans, they look like jeans, they are worn as jeans and therefore presented as jeans. They are denim, with some stretch woven in for comfort.

So you are getting tailored jeans? What are you doing, buying off the shelf and taking to a tailor, or getting them custom made.

Most of us don't have this issue, and with a 31/33 inside leg and slim waist, we can look good off the rack in a slim (not skinny) pair of performance Diesel, or equivalent.

Totally agree. I also get my tailor to let out the fly area and back pockets to accommodate my massive balls and wallet.

If you usually wear suits to work then I would ask your tailor if he could make three pairs of jeans when your next trip to saville row is due.

Check the size and fit while there and have the adjustments made where needed.

No, I'm not having jeans custom made. That would be silly and require someone who can make a marquee to have a stab at making trousers.

If you read what I said, I've said rather than blow "designer" money on trousers, I'd choose to get something tailored because it costs no more and indeed can cost less. I do this very rarely because I think anyone spending that sort of money at all on a pair of trousers must have been dropped on their head at a young age. In my case it is a matter of desperation when I can't find anything else in my unusual size.

Just because someone markets their trousers as jeans doesn't make them jeans. It's just designer life style bs doing the usual of diluting the precision of our language to make one thing seem like another so they can sell you their product wrapped up in the image of something else. If you want to buy Spandex trousers, buy Spandex. But why call them jeans? It's like saying "I've bought an articulated lorry" while pointing at a skateboard on which someone has scribbled "this skateboard is an articulated lorry, and I'll get defensive of you day or isn't."

I have never asked for a quote for a pair of jeans. But for bespoke from one of the better tailors I bet you'd be talking £2k for the first pair. It just isn't worth it for jeans.

Not quite custom but if you buy Uniqlo in-store they can adjust the legs in store free of charge.

I think that may be pushing things a bit far.

It's like saying "I've bought an articulated lorry", and pointing at an articulated lorry, only instead of being made of steel and with that heavy-duty canvas/vinyl stuff down the sides it's made of wood and has velvet curtains down the sides. And doesn't bend in the same place. But still works for transporting goods around the country.

Otherwise you can get awfully picky about this sort of thing, and say that they're only jeans if they have a button fly, and the crotch rivet they used to have, and that the fabric has to come from Nimes and be dyed with natural indigo. Sometimes if they share enough of the characteristics it's a lot simpler to call them jeans.

They are jeans. They are not spandex trousers. They are jeans, with a small amount of elastine woven into the denim to make them comfortable.

This was a relatively new process, but is becoming more and more common as people are enjoying wearing jeans that are closer in comfort to jogging bottoms. Pretty much every jean maker, and high street chain are offering multiple versions of these now and they aren't a novelty anymore.

Nobody is trying to trick you into buying them. If you want something infinitely more comfortable than jeans but look the same, they are available.

Saying jeans woven with a tiny amount of elastine is like calling an articulated lorry a skateboard is a woeful example.

Not really sure what the our other point is. Don't buy Diesel - buy High Street and take them to a tailor? Are you advising we all do this, or are you saying you have to resort too this due to your unusual size?

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but any jeans I've bought in the past 5 years seem to be getting skinnier and tighter, also the pockets are getting smaller.
Does anyone have a recommendation for some jeans that are a bit looser and have decent size pockets? I did get a pair of "Levi's STAY LOOSE - Relaxed fit jeans" but they're going from one extreme to the other and are like those crazy baggy jeans from the 90s, approaching 40 and being 6'4 means it's not really a look I can pull off! Dead comfy around the house mind.
I wear 34" waist and 34" leg and am not a fan of the stretch jeans (had some Wrangler Texas stretch and they just felt a bit weird).

From what I've read, skinny jeans are going out of fashion for men (thank god) and women (boo). Slim is staying as a classic fit, and wider are coming in as on trend.

All the companies listed prior do slim fit.

/end Gok wan mode, sweetie.

Sizing seems to be increasingly random too - I've recently ordered (and returned) 34" that wouldn't stay up, 34" that wouldn't go over my thighs. Must have been over 6" difference in the waist sizes.

Yeah I'm seeing the same.

Slim fit is become the standard. More and more becoming stretch/comfort which is a good thing.

Replaces the awful 'boot cut' straight leg which just look awful.

Skinny fit are horrible.

Big trend now in oversized, wide fits which I'm not into.

For everyday wear, slim fit comfort jeans are perfect.

You can get jeans made to your own measurements from a couple of web sites. I used Make Your Own Jeans dot com and had some success, they are based in India and if your first pair aren't right they will make you a new pair with updated measurements. The material used is pretty good and they seem to have lasted well

The only real problem is the quantity of targeted marketing they will send you after using them but I am sure that can be switched off.

DKNY for me. Stretch/Slim. I get them at the outlet malls in Florida when we can visit. I'm getting a bit low now so bit desperate for a holiday back there so I can top my supply up.

I ordered a pair of the UniQlo jeans linked above.
Nice waist fit, great length however I'm fked if I'm going to spend 1 second of my time walking about looking like Max Wall. Gave to my daughter who refused them.
Oh well the charity shop can have them.
I think I'll stick to my canvas jeans from Hebtroco.

Well if you remember Max Wall then youre not really the target demographic for UniQlo surely

It appears not.
A cheap mistake.
