Hello Pistonheads

I've got a problem with my Passat and I was wondering if someone can advise.
It's a 2014 B7 TDi. The problem is if I hit a speedbump I hear this sort of creaky sound.
The best way I can describe it is it sounds like when you sit down on an inflatable chair.

I'm gonna take a guess and say it's the shocks, but springs or what I don't know ? Suspension really isn't my thing.
Maybe it's not that at all ? The bushes were replaced last year, and i've literally never heard this noise before in any car I've driven.

Can anyone tell me what it is please?

Here's an audio recording (first at 00-01 seconds and again at 03 seconds)

I've just been out and pushed down on the bonnet (hood for the Americans) above each wheel to push the car down and let it rise back up, and I don't hear the noise. I only ever hear this when I hit a speed bump.

Thanks in advance

@thebreaktester, thanks for that I will check into that tomorrow.

@mybrainhurts haha yeah long road near me has tons of them.. and the phone was mounted in a holder on the dash so probably made a fair bit of noise.

Listened to vid. Almost certain it’s the top mounts. Common on VAG stuff

I wouldn’t bother replacing unless it’s driving you mad. Pretty much every vw group car I’ve driven has done it. You will probably find you’ll replace them and the noise will go for a while then come back.

I find it’s worse depending on the temperature / weather etc so you might find it clears up itself.

Could also be the front lower arm(s). The rubbers gradually perish / harden over time.
