I like and hate these at the same time. They look very similar in design to my beloved fracaps. Old fashioned walking boot with the paras sawtooth sole.
But they are hideous abominations of the superstar.
i like the superstar but have not owned a pair since i was at school. like the campus and the stan smith, the wider originals just don't fit my feet. too wide and they bend in an odd way at the toe. the superstar magnifies this. other than my bad bunny's, every pair of originals i own are the narrow close fitting lasts. this is kind a weird as my feet aren't narrow, i measured them across the metatarsal arch the other week [we have lots of fun in our house] at 105mm which is considered wide.
i was looking for a pair of apres ski boots. i have considered fracap previously but need to try them for size. my current pair are shearling lined grenson hiking boots but i wanted some that are more casual and even a bit daft.
these seemed to fit the bill. the blue was a conscious decision over brown. reminiscent of a duck boot type and the shell toe is pleated leather. they will look ridiculous worn anywhere else than a ski resort, but inside one everyone will fawn over me and i will be embarrassed by the constant praise and compliments. with the leather toe box, chunky socks and the boot structure [it just look like they've considered the heel properly, different profile to the pro model on which it's based] they should be comfy.
plus i think they'll sell out unlike so many recent originals releases, so i won't have any issue if they arrive and don't fit / i don't like them.
in general i think clot are doing well with their take on the classics. the crepe sole gazelle was a bit of a dud [especially compared to kith's samba] but the superstar, espedrille stans and espedrille gazelle are very different and fresh.
ETA they are the pro model, which itself is a boot version superstar. i do wish adidas re release the allround V but i think i'm probably the only person who bought a pair, it was a weird baseball boot type samoaesque mashup.

as i mentioned them above, what deadstock styles do you want to bring back from any brand?
for me, the allround v. has a shaped footbed, really comfy, only available for about 5 minutes in one colourway

nite jogger, 90s reissue

kegler super in the OG colourway. my first pair of originals way back in the 90s

puma rudi dassler x alexander van slobbe. must have been early 00s as i had them at uni. way ahead of their time being exquisitely made and obscenely expensive.

Controversial take:
I think the superstar is a fairly ugly trainer and this boot iteration is an improvement
They are pretty ugly. But Run DMC....I think the superstar is a fairly ugly trainer and this boot iteration is an improvement

Not my image. They are in the garage waiting to be rescued.

Went for a winter pair of waffles to brighten the dark nights.
Given the increase in price from the reissue a few years back that I personally loved I was sceptical about these but they really are incredible quality. £130 of quality of that’s a maybe but they’re up there with the puma select mostro’s I’ve bought recently and feel really well made.
