I know it’s pedantic but have we seen the death of ‘there are ‘ + plural ?
It seems to be replaced by ‘there’s ‘+ plural.

For example something simple like ‘ there are loads of people driving today’ is commonly replaced by ‘there’s loads of people driving today’

You even hear it on the news / radio etc

There are PLURAL rest in peace

Sorry for any typos . . . Irony at its best . .

It's laziness.

Today I'll best be doing something about it. Argh, longwinded for the sake of it and probably to give the darlings time to think.

Surely 'There is' has been replaced by 'There's'?, and not 'There are'?

There're two ways of looking at it.

There is only one way of looking at it, you can't shorten 'there are'.

I suppose the Meercans will have done it, they look at themselves in meers, so will probably have a go at thererrr.

'There is one of them'. Singular.
'There are two of them'. Plural.

Also, 'less' has replaced 'fewer'.

As in, "there were less cars on the roads during lockdown" - mad

We tried to enforce a ban on ‘there’s’ in our company style guide but gave up in the end. Every new hire used it and it was a constant battle. I think it’s just one of these things that has changed over time.

BBC news geezer said 'is this more bad than the other one?' on the BBC news a few days ago.

I felt something die in my soul.

As you were.

"More bad" is clumsy and sounds daft, but as far as I can see it's not actually gramatically incorrect?

I think it's a terrible indictment of the current standard of newsreaders.

We all know he should have said "worser".
