Tell Us Something Really Trivial About Your Life Volume 37
Discussion
Yesterday seems to have been one of introspection, and persuading ourselves to do "something" to become fitter - I had a similar conversation with my eldest cousin at yesterday's lunch in memory of my Dad. We mused upon the fact that just about all of the generation preceding us have passed on, and we are now the "elder generation" of the family, with our own offspring coming through behind us.
A fact reinforced by the presence of my son, daughter, future daughter-in-law, and my sister's grandson. Life is not a dress rehearsal.
The event went well, and we gave the old boy a good, if belated, send-off. Now it's back to "normal", and wrestling some accounts into submission. Having been rudely awoken by rain hammering against the windows at around 4.30am. It's now stopped raining, so I'm off for an early-morning walk to try to kick-start some brain cells into action so that I can get some work done today. My own fitness plan involves a minimum of 10,000 steps every day, regardless of the weather. I'm 63, and my ambition in life is to draw my pension for more years than I paid into it.

Well that's not the start to the day I was hoping for, our maintenance team have done a PM on my usual machine, which I'm back on for a day and a half, more on that later, and I've come in this morning to the machine and the floor in front of it covered in swarf and oil!!!
So my working day has started with a complaint to my T/L and having to clear up someone else's mess!!!
The reason I'm only in for a day and a half is I have a Covid test tomorrow at 1040hrs and then have to isolate until I have endoscopy on Friday morning.

Beware of anything described with words including endo... Innuendo is Italian for suppository.
Had that one last year, i guess they thought they've done one end so they might as well try the other this time!!!Good luck with the accounts wrestling Dermot O'logical, and you may need an umbrella!!!
G'day all you Sheilas out there!
Bring me a crocodile sarnie, and make it snappy!
T6 vanman, I hope your first day in your new job goes better than Bobbers' has started off so far.
The thing that worries me most about having a gastroscopy is where that camera/shower head and flexible hose thingy has been before, and whether they have sterilised it properly, or just given it a cursory couple of flicks with a wet wipe.
I mean, I don't like to think it's been up Bobbers' bum before they shove it down my frote.
Dermot, glad you and your family were able to give your Dad a proper send-off yesterday, it helps bring the grieving (i before e) process on a bit to honour his memory properly.
Apologies for my absence yesterday post-meridian, I took Percy for a nice little topless run over the Snake Pass to a nice little gathering of High Peak Nomads at the Ladybower Inn for a Sunday roast lunch and a catch up. Our second meeting since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, the first one was a socially distanced BBQ in the beer garden of the Rigger's Arms up near Preston last September.
It was good to see everyone after such a long time.
There were lots of stories of how we all coped with being cooped up for so long (Whatever happened to Cooped Up anyway? Is he still shacked up with that ski instructress?)
After a tasty Sunday lunch of lamb shank, we parted company and went our separate ways in our 5 TVRs. I took the longest short cut via the Woodhead Pass, and ended up calling at my daughter's for a cup of tea, and Big George wanted to "drive Pop-Pops racing car"
"but don't start the engine!" ( it's too scary! ) so I let him play in it for ages. "What's this for? What does this do? Can I do this? Why does this turn round? How fast can it go? Can I pull this thing? Where is the roof, Pop-pops?"
Then my Son-in-Law invited me to stay for Sunday dinner ( they dine early evening) so I said thanks very much, but I've already eaten.
"Pah, that was hours ago. Surely you can manage a small portion? "
And that, Trivialites, is how I came to emulate the Vicar of Dibley and stuff myself all over again. Fitness or fatness? There's a fine line between the two.
Later we watched the replay of the GP ( no, not G3org3y, the Hungarian one).
I eventually arrived back home around 10ish, put Percy to bed, had a beer, and went to bed.
It's all fun fun fun here oop norf.

Hi Gary! You even have the sticker
Indeed I have, you know I can't resist a tasteful sticker!
Good to meet you and your good lady at the seaside just over a week ago. You were both looking good!
It was a lovely day out, wasn't it?
Yes, good to have at least a brief catch up with the S massif. Looking forward to the next thrilling instalment at Oulton!
