I'm going to tell you my formula 1 story .

I was so offended by the finale in Abu Dhabi 2021 , I promised not to watch it again....ever !

I turned off the tv when the chequered flag fell in Abu and went out for a bit ,I turned tv back on when returned home and the F1 after party was in full swing and Christian Horner was being interviewed ,I turned over straight away .

Since then I have not seen or heard any Formula 1 stuff ,not a thing .

I do not know who has won the 5 ? races so far , or who crashed ,or who has had a hissy fit .

If successful ,this time next year I won't even know who the 2022 champion is .

Once again I stumbled upon a Formula E race ,in Monaco few weeks ago ,I watched 15 minutes of Vernon and Queen of Formula E Nikki doing inane grid interviews ,the race started ,I lasted less than 2 laps before switching off .

The WRC is better this year ,9 times champion Sebastien Loeb returned for a part season in the new Ford Puma and promptly won first time out in Monte Carlo , with a new co driver a female school teacher .

" Monsieur le headmaster ?.....please may i have next week off ,I am co driving Mr Loeb in the Monte Carlo rally "

"Yes of course you are my petit colleague , ".....walks away ,swearing in la Francais ...."taureau merde "

The BTCC has been good too , although all the chit chat about hybrid stuff makes me yawn .

That is all .

Some GT racing on Freesports would be nice if I can find it .
At least you were spared the FIA taking the whole wretched circus down to the wire hoping Mercedes would fold and they could pretend it didn't happen. It was all so humiliating.

Morneve chaps, GR, mon ami, fencing and erections should be kept separate - lest one separate one's erection.

The bit of pointwork connecting one side of Bescot marshalling yard to the other is known locally as ‘snakes pass’. Funny lot these West Midlanders.

More useless railway trivia is available on receipt of an SAE and a £1.50 postal order wink

Lyneham Banks, Wiltshire also collapsed earlier in the year,

https://www.wiltshiretimes.co.uk/news/19998105.peo...

They haven't started work on it as it's still moving. No plans to reopen until next year at the earliest

Ooh, I used to use that road often, way back in the late '60s.

The mention of Bradenstoke (-cum-Clack rofl) got me trying to remember the name of the pub we used to frequent when off-duty.
It may have been the Bradenstoke Arms??? Not sure.
I know the pub sign was a heraldic shield design.

I went looking for it on my way back from Thruxton prior to the covid lock down, but failed to find it. There was a pub, but not in the same place where I remembered our old haunt to be, and definitely not the same building. Unless my memory is failing, which is quite likely! wobble

I hadn't seen a photo of the Lyneham Banks subsidence! I've followed the diversions many times through the villages, but didn't realise how bad it was! I wonder how much of that is due to the weight of the military vehicles?

Splendid, that's something I'd be interested in.

I'm not too worried about the sword, (I generally prefer things that go BANG if push comes to shove) but would you happen to know if there's a choice of hats?
