yes but i fail to understand the reasoning behind it all. I get that the RMT is protecting it’s workers from alleged redundancies by Network Fail* but surely bringing the country’s rail network to a grinding halt is counter productive.
But what do i know, i am sure our esteemed Ninky Nonk Pilot will be along soon to explain it for those who don’t understand it wavey so we can understand thier grievance.
* i say alleged because i haven’t really looked into it to be honest and seeing as i work less than 1.5 miles from work, i dont have a need to use the railways.
Righty ho I’ll give this one a whirl - for starters, I’m not in the RMT, I’m in ASLEF, which represents far more drivers than the RMT does, secondly ASLEF are not on strike, thirdly I’ve never once gone on strike nor voted for industrial action. There, got that out of the way wink

To the matter in hand - the route cause of the RMT’s action is the incompetence of the TOC’s management and their reliance on current drivers doing overtime (working their rest days which is not compulsory) just to cover the basic roster and timetable. The TOC concerned does not want to train up sufficient drivers to cover all of the work and a lot of existing drivers do not want to do the overtime, ergo, crap service from the TOC, but all the public sees and hears about is recalcitrant, greedy drivers wanting it all their own way. It was ever thus and always will be until enough drivers are taken on and trained up!
Fanks, i knew you would be along to explain it all proper like wavey
In relation to the above, the RMT thread over in NP&E appears to be 'on the boil', it's clear that some posters are unable to accept that those who work in the industry know what they're talking about and try to explain things openly and honestly, alas to no avail - apparently ''train drivers are an aberration'', who knew! I was going to wade in but there's no point, as some people's views are so entrenched.

IOVTN, I've very nearly almost but not quite managed to give up the old 'midnight snacking' habit, it goes with the shift work and the odd hours we do but I'm getting there. Too many noms consumed past the midnight hour, so it is.

Is that how you say most people are wkers? scratchchin However, if you had called them wkers i would have been like yes
Well I wouldn't go that far. Probably hehe

Trivia alert : 'Villain', made in 1970, was the first film to get past the British censor with the word 'wker' left in the finished cut.

I've often wondered when the slide into modern day depravity started!!!

I've never actually seen the film, but did Burton have a leg off to play the part of an amputee baddy?
Such dedication to his craft. bow

I would have thought unidexter Dudley Moore (Mister Spigot) would have been the casting dept's first choice...

I have managed some further progress with the fencing, despite getting very very moist.

This was not due to over-excitement, it was just inclement wevva.

Mrs Robbo is unhappy because the fence panels are stepped as I have progressively installed them down our sloping boundary.
Apparently they look awful like that, and she expects them to be all the same height and level with each other along the tops.
I told her I was not prepared to mount the furthest fence panels on stilts to accommodate her strange desires, nor would I install 9ft high panels at the lower end of the run which would block the sunlight from our garden. Plus it would require fence posts over 3.5 metres tall and the longest ones in stock at Wickes are just 2.8m

I suppose I could have erected the posts at an angle to suit the slope of the garden, but I would have suffered from itchy teeth every time I looked at such a wonky arrangement. wobblesillynuts

On a positive note, our neighbour is delighted with progress so far. (They have already contributed 50% of the cost of materials so that's a blessing.)

Robbopopping duties again tomorrow, commencing 08:10hrs. (Lates)
Weather permitting, I will have a 2.5 hour window of fencing opportunity whilst Robbopoppetlet attends Nursery School in the afternoon.

I'm glad I don't have a 4hr drive prior and subsequent to babysitting.

I have a mental image of Scrump relaxing in his scuds on his chaise longue, surveilling a vast array of screens displaying a multitude of Tik Tok posts, whilst being tended by nubile wenches catering for his every whim and feeding him scratchings and pickled eggs...

Oh, of course, absolutely, paua!
But there are no pickled onions that compare with my dear old Mum's cousin Harry Potter's pickled shallots for sheer flavoursome NOMness. :nom:

Morning all bounce

Looks quite 'official', that one. Well, it's officially Friday so there we go.

Pickled onions?

I think there might be a nice bit of Stilton in the pantry to go with them, there's certainly something in there that smells like it anyhow.

I'll maybe have a look later if I get a moment.

Morning/evening chaps wavey
It appears to be a lovely day outside this morning, whether the weather will last is another matter!!
A nurlier start than normal as I'm going to do a bit of overtime to catch up on some courses I need to do, I may even stay on an hour or two!!!

Top job with the fencing glenrobbo, I don't understand what Mrs Robbo thinks you're going to do about the garden sloping!?!?!

Apparently there was a bit of a commotion at the front gate last night, some travelling types were trying to gain access to the field by the control tower and were given short shrift by Battert and Mrs B, I think Penrose may have been summoned........

My aide memoire reads Battert Cod.

Does that mean anything?
