Tell Us Something Really Trivial About Your Life Volume 38
Discussion
Belated greetings, one and all!
Early start this morning, I decided to have a trip to Swanage, and thought it best to start early, as journeys take a little longer when you're being propelled by a 60bhp one-litre three cylinder engine, although it's no slower than my previous Golf R when you're stuck in traffic. If anybody is contemplating a journey which involves the A31 near Ringwood, may I suggest that they leave ample time, like an extra hour or so.
Still, the main objective for today was to polish up a memorial plaque to the now-deceased Mater and Pater on one of the benches on Swanage Pier, which I managed to accomplish, although the ravages of winter made it quite a lengthy job - next time I'll take a cordless drill with a polishing mop, and start with something more abrasive than AutoGlym's version of Solvol Autosol. However, it's looking better than it was, and I've had an agreeable day out, so notwithstanding the lack of sunshine, it's been a good day. And despite the traffic, the Up! managed 67.3mpg, which in these dark days is nothing to be sniffed at.
Have I missed anything?

That's a controlled descent - you can see from the stance that pelican is being steered to port. That's th red light side, for those not acquainted to nautical stuff. Ask Pequod for extra nautical questions, he's sailed about some.
Morneve, 42S
The descent of most matelots into the red light side is usually not well-controlled, so I've heard from their tales! Morneve, 42S
And some of their tattoos prove it.
Back from Trivchester. With the Audi at the diagnostics man's emporium I had to take the SLK. Mine. not Mrs C's. Where the Audi will get there and back on a tankful with motorway driving at 70 or so and umpteen miles of town driving, the SLK wouldn't I had to fill up before the return journey.
My sums say it returned 33 mpg on the motorway and 16 round town - 27 mpg overall. But I didn't go over 60 on the motorway very often and was mostly doing 55 with the lorries. That's like playing pub songs on a Steinway. I'll make sure I don't take it again. 33 mpg on the motorway isn't bad though, is it? He said, trying to make a virtue out of a necessity.

I've now covered a smidge shy of 50k in the Giulia. I've reset my stats a few times but it consistently seems to return to a settled 29.7mpg. Most of my normal weekly mileage is the M62/A1 Leeds to Donny and back with son number one. It's not exactly economical but I still love driving it and that's worth the cost. You can't take it with you!
And after yesterday's slight grouch - stop sniggering at the back - i can now hear things again.
eh??? Whassat??
I got in to a somewhat frosty attitude last night and it was still somewhat brisk after tea and then.....we got into it.
Apparently everything is my fault - - as if i didn't see that coming a mile off and when the shouting decended to a dull roar, i broke my silence to venture the opinion that if she lets people come and go, use the washing machine, tumble dryer, tv, microwave, kettle and heating all day long, then don't piss and moan when the bill is sky high.
It went over about as well as can be expected and it was touch and go if i was sleeping on the sofa last night or whether i would be sleeping in the car overnight.
Or
To put it another way, she hasn't spoken to me since last night

If I was earning it would be different. I'd be blasting up and back having a whale of a time only I probably wouldn't because I'd be working not babysitting. I'll file that under Life Equations I Have Known.

It was one of the few things I recognised among Step Daughter #1's provisions.
Aftnoon/morn all!
Piloting a fixed winger is, wivout doubt, a more taxing experience than a raggy, albeit the lights are similar, and descent is more rapid. Gliding is the equivalent to sailing, and no mistake, minus gravity.
Where was I, oh yes...
Plumbing-in the UES is ongoing, but today, was mowing duties with the boyos plus a few hours spent removing a score metre or so of boxus wiv the poxus, hedge! Damnation, I will replant with Yew.
IOTN: The Dowager has recovered from the forf CVP-V and back to her normal irascible self!
Mini Golf?
Pout

Looks like P5BNij will be having a bit of a break next month ...
but i fail to understand the reasoning behind it all. I get that the RMT is protecting it’s workers from alleged redundancies by Network Fail* but surely bringing the country’s rail network to a grinding halt is counter productive. But what do i know, i am sure our esteemed Ninky Nonk Pilot will be along soon to explain it for those who don’t understand it so we can understand thier grievance.
* i say alleged because i haven’t really looked into it to be honest and seeing as i work less than 1.5 miles from work, i dont have a need to use the railways.
To the matter in hand - the route cause of the RMT’s action is the incompetence of the TOC’s management and their reliance on current drivers doing overtime (working their rest days which is not compulsory) just to cover the basic roster and timetable. The TOC concerned does not want to train up sufficient drivers to cover all of the work and a lot of existing drivers do not want to do the overtime, ergo, crap service from the TOC, but all the public sees and hears about is recalcitrant, greedy drivers wanting it all their own way. It was ever thus and always will be until enough drivers are taken on and trained up!
IOVTN, I've very nearly almost but not quite managed to give up the old 'midnight snacking' habit, it goes with the shift work and the odd hours we do but I'm getting there. Too many noms consumed past the midnight hour, so it is.

Well that's odd. Milkyway and I have been acquainted for eons. Or at least, I thought we had. In a galaxy far, far away possibly.Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
