You should read my abandoned tree thread ,it's very woody . love
Thought that was a given to be honest. Council have chopped trees around here and by that evening all logs had gone biggrin
I may have been busy in between tv programmes last night moving logs . Even at 1am with the biggest I could move . whistle

I'm going out soon to see what is still there .

I love WFH, I keep in contact with my colleagues via Teams everyday and visit the office in St Albans now and again. I like it because I am an avid plane spotter (I know) and I can spend my time in between work with a pair of binos attached to my face watching stuff in and out of Teeside Airport (when weather permits) and USAF transit flights over the drink.

Artnoon all.

GR it's woefull that electrickery /Gaz situation you have been put in. Last thing you need, what with everything else. All the best on all fronts dear chap.

My offloading of belongings continues. Today was my tipper trucks turn to be sold. I'm not using it much so it's going tomorrow.

I'm toying with the idea of selling my beloved Fiat!
Worse thing about that is that it's probably worth more in parts!

I'm busy getting the exterior of the house decorated at the moment. I'm sanding down and re staining all the shutters to the front of the house at the moment.

There's a possibility of some big changes in our lives and I need to be totally on top of things in order to be able to react swiftly if need be.

Suns out is sunny Charente today.

Fout and about.

I like WFH, covid and lockdown was great for us as our Boss was heavily against it (even though us on projects used to do it unofficially).
I've not been in the office now for about 4 years. Occasional trips to customer sites, but we communicate all the time on line.

It emans I can be on the beach 15 mins after finishing work biggrin Only issue is no wifi or phone signal otherwise I'd probably try to 'work' there as well.

It's strange as so many people say that WFH has made them depressed and feel isolated, mostly said by people under the age of 35 to be honest, but I think I'd find it quite hard to stay motivated if I worked from home.

Hope these changes you speak of are being made by choice Magoo?

Sorry to hear of your ongoing issues glenrobbo, it won't be helping with your health.

Off to find this new thread of yours BananaFama!!!

Today's shenanigans from Wemakelotsofmoneyoffpeoplewithbadteef.com
Our MD had been in Cologne last week at the worlds biggest dental trade show - millions upon millions of euro's worth of business done every 20 mins apparently - and was helping to man the company stand as he is German so can help with the language.
Anyway, he had been away from Sunday to Sunday just gone and came back in to the office for the first time yesterday.

I had need of speaking to him about an issue which meant showing him pictures of said issue i had taken on my phone.
All good so far?
Good, i shall proceed....
Not half an hour later, he announces that someone who he was in close proximity to at the show in Cologne* had tested positive for Covpoxlurgy, once he got told, he did a test immediately and he is positive.
ranting
So now i have to test every day just in case i've caught the snazza fazza rashin fashin covpoxlurgy.....again! banghead

grumpygrumpy

So far nothing but that doesn't mean he hasn't passed it on and it could arrive by the weekend banghead

* years ago, i worked for Motorola when the celluar phones were going from Del Boy sized bricks to smaller phones like wot we have today innit. We had an Indian guy work there for a while and he was quite fond of his cologne, or as he called it, Col-og-nee. This of course started a mass piss take when someone asked what he was wearing
What's that smell, it's not bad
It's my col-og-nee
Your what?
Col-og-nee

.....roflroflrofl

Working from home is a privilege and a right pain. I get out of bed around 6am, I'm bored, so I start working not long after that. I wave my wife goodbye as she goes to do a real job. I'm my own boss so I can't complain about doing extra hours but I've a never ending list of things that need done and although I've employees I've no-one else I trust to do some of them. Issues maybe.

I do more onsite work these days and it's good for the soul having to shave, shower, and wear some proper clothes. My friends and wife have noticed the change in my demeanour. For all the benefits of WFH it's not good for the mind to only WFH, in my case anyway.
So far I am generally liking it. I still meet people face-to-face a handful of times per month.

I do have a tendency to get wedded to my desk somewhat, and my hamstrings are not grateful for that.

I need to get better at getting up and walking around, losing the guilt of not being present in case somebody thinks badly of me not being there. I'm adapting rapidly, though.

Next step: taking proper lunch breaks and going for a walk or run.

Getting out the door is important. I do a 3-5 mile walk or run pretty much every day of the week. I can't listen to music doing it, I can't listen to any rhythm that doesn't match my pace. So I do podcasts instead. Angry political ones aren't switching off. So I tend to do audiobook style ones. Trivial.

We have a dedicated study, right next to the kitchen biggrin Bean to cup coffee machine and snacks...
Then also the garden office, a 5 x 3m fully insulated and heated cabin. I guess when we move i'd probably look at putting another in as an office/man cave.

Nice idea. I listed to SciFi series on Audible.

I wonder if I don't get out as I plan a run in my head, but then have to factor in changing, then showering after. If I just keep it simple and go for a walk then it makes it accessible. Thanks for the prompt: I'll keep it simple, starting on Thursday. (Meetings over lunchtime tomorrow.)

Gordon-Keeble?

I may be wrong (it's happened before), but I think that they were built somewhere in the vicinity of Southampton Docks, at least for part of their production run, such as it was.

Correct Dermot, old boy! I remember driving a chum to view one for sale (£16,500 as I recall?) which he bought after some haggling? Quite quick it was....

BTW, congrats on reaching 2000 persts!

Afternoon all!

A productive day concluded, which included, arranging for a replacement DG unit for the holed window, re-arranging The Dowagers investments to ensure Her fees at Howitzer House can be settled for years to come, and investing a few sovs at Plumpton!

Indeed, a philosophy I strive to achieve yet regularly fail!

Nice day for snow-foaming the Up! I shouldn't wonder?
