I was going to post similar. I knew the spelling was different, but only very recently realised why. "Beat". A musical term.
Me too. They went down in my estimation after that, not that I had much to begin with.

Elsewhere I never knew a PhD was always original research. I assumed it was simply loads and loads of difficult multiple choice questions.

Someone needs to manufacture a shirt/pullover/slacks/moccasins onesie type suit..

I'll take one in each colour!

If it had an extendable hood in black, that could be pulled down as a body bag..
Certainly sir! That'll be light beige, medium beige and dark beige. smile

You've really piqued my interest now, especially with the hood/body bag option. biggrin

I was round at a friends house the other day (we're both 60) when he opened a new roll off cling film. As he pulled some out, the whole roll came out of the box. He started moaning so I showed him the two flaps at each end of the box, that you push inwards to secure the cling film in place, so it spins round in the box . He couldn't believe it!
I'm of a similar vintage and only discovered this in the past year. Are you sure it's not some new-fangled thing?
I was producing film and foil 25 years ago, and the tabs existed then.

Don't worry, you're not missing much. They don't work particularly well and the roll of cling film will still end up leaping out of the box.

65 and discovered last year that the boat race goes upstream not downstream.
It doesn't.

I can assure you the the Heads of The River race goes downstream.
Easy enough to check ...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Championship_Cou...

University Boat Race goes upstream (apart from 1846, 1856 and 1863). Other races on the same course go downstream.
Although the University Boat Race is upstream, it's worth noting that it is always raced with the flow rather than against the flow, as the river is tidal and the race is held on the flood tide, whereas races held in the opposite direction (downstream) such as the Head of the River (not Heads of the River), are also raced with the flow, as these are raced on the ebb tide.

I'm 60 this August and realised yesterday when on the News they were talking about the Elgin Marbles that they were marble sculptures and not some sort of snazzy, ancient, well, marbles.

As I'm a total idiot I mentioned it to Mrs. A.

Who pissed herself.

I only recently twigged that the name Bluebottle for a common house fly is because it has a blue rear quarter and that the ‘bottle’ part of the name is rhyming slang. I never connected it with phrase “running around like a blue arsed fly” either.
Mind blown.

Never fancied the idea of eating something that came out of a bee's bottom so avoided honey for over 60 years, then found out it was delicious. Gah.
Honey comes out of a bee's mouth, not it's bum.
So vom not poo, hmm, still not selling it to me hehe
Hmmm... "username irony". If insect vomit doesn't do it for you think about milk for more than a second.

I like eggs. Most people don't realise what exactly they are eating , but once you do, nothing else phases you.

Will also require: camel, sh*te brown, burgundy, airforce blue, navy blue, light grey, charcoal grey, and olive. And for special occasions, a Michael Portillo inspired opal fruit mish mash, or Christopher Biggins clown suit !

I'm 40 and only realised in the last couple of years that women are expensive, and divorces even more so. They should teach this in school.

Hmmm...Bluebottle for policeman is from rhyming slang.

Googling suggests the bottle part of Bluebottle (the fly) comes from the old English word for maggot - 'bot'.

I love the "Opal Fruit mish mash"! rofl
You've omitted ( or just overlooked ) both taupe and khaki. Most important for the modern geriatric-about-town this season.
And there's Southern Region Waiting Room "Faded Almond Green". Always a great stand-by.

And don't forget: Incontinence Matters.

I only just discovered yesterday that Nicolas Cage is the actually a member of the Coppola family (with a famous uncle who directed The Godfather films)

No idea how I never knew this at age of 39 (and I love movies n film!)
