Some songs which have made a lot of money were written in a day too, which has a stronger link between value and return.
I doubt a yearly royalty return equates to anything near the figure in discussion. Don McLean hoovers up $500000 p.a. for American Pie.

However if your song is a theme tune to a TV show or features in a blockbuster film, who can tell.

Doesn't Noddy Holder get a good whack every December? I'd say that was a good return on investment!

The Post Office in Denmark is to stop delivering letters.

Things like this make me realise just how old I am. Also, I spent an hour this morning trying to recover (and failing) my email account because Hotmail is denying all knowledge of me.

Based on my recent experience so has Royal Mail. They just didn’t tell me they were going to bother before I paid for postage…

Indeed, him and Jim Lea get about half a million between them for that awful dirge.

“Dark end of the street” was written in 30 minutes. I would have thought that the writing royalties over the past 59 years for that half hour’s work add up to a substantial sum.

Trees andplantscan communicate in ways we don't fully understand. Vibrations, noises , chemical and quantum.

There is some evidence, that seeds can communicate with other seeds via a potential quantum communication method using bio photons.

This is something humans can't do as we understand.
Reminds me of an episode of “Tales of the Unexpected” that scared the hell out me as kid.
