Have we had illuminated number plates yet? Followed a Cayenne earlier with the front letters and numbers outlined in white and the rear in red. It looked horrendous.
Turned off towards the local scrapyard, clue there perhaps?

Movie, short for "moving picture". Old school, not council.
The word 'movie' was superseded by the word 'talkie' in the 1930s so the word 'movie' isn't so much 'old school' as 'archaic'.

Any higher and it will get its own signal.

I’m sorry, what?

On the subject of number plates though, this is peak council. Can’t find the appropriate BO55 plate with you initials on it? No problem, BO65 is now where it is at…

Complete in dodgy 4D typeface… on a pick up truck… in white… with all of Halfords stuck to it…

That's just asking to be pulled, isn't it? The owner will no doubt argue that the regulations do not define the size or shape of the plate and that the lettering, spacing and margins etc are all perfectly legal. But I can't see the makers name or BS details (they may be there). And while they're at it the BiB would no doubt check everything else rather carefully...."I couldn't help but notice a snell of alcohol/cannabis there, sir/madam; would you mind just getting in my car for a moment."

Sad compo face of the week goes to:

"beautician" caught smuggling cocaine...

Although I'm struggling to work out if the two pics are of the same woman...

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14136513/...

Kim Hall, 28, from Middlesbrough, was stopped at Chicago's O'Hare airport as she prepared to board a connecting flight to Manchester on August 18.

Homeland Security investigators found 43kg of cocaine packed in two suitcases and detained the young woman, who is being held in a safe house before her trial.

Ms Hall is facing 60 years in a US prison, but has insisted 'I am not guilty of what they're saying that I am'. She claims she agreed to bring a suitcase home for a pair of British men under the belief it contained only cash.

After meeting the pair on an earlier break to Portugal, Ms Hall claims they offered her a free holiday to Mexico and asked her to take the money back home to their family because 'one of them had lost their passport and they were in trouble'.

...
Mr Hall, 59, previously defended his daughter, saying all she is guilty of is 'stupidity and naivety'.

Those numbers and letters look like the magnetic ones I had when I was 3yrs old. Rearrange as required... and on a black car, with the quadruple whammy of black wheels, tinted windows, tinted tail lights and badges. Forget council its just absolutely st! Could be Dracula, via the chunnel instead of Whitby - or if not undead then merely brain-dead.

One of my most council experiences that happened was when i was early 20s and at a car boot sale (council). There was a guy selling a "mini-moto" for £50 that my friend wanted to go half on. it wasn't really my thing but I would have gone half on it purely because he's a good friend, the sort who would do anything for me.

My friend spoke to the seller about the bike saying he was interested in buying it and if it runs etc, was getting the money out when some red faced guy in his 50s or 60s pushes in and buys it from under my mate.

In a way it did me a favour as I didn't really want it but I think the whole situation was council bingo.

Maybe the old guy was going to bundle it with a staffy and try to swap it for an xbox 360.

Council list:

car boot sale
mini moto
going half on things
red faced old guy
buying a mini moto from under two young guys
seller letting the guy push in

I know a chap who is very quick and makes a decent living from buying items and selling them on. He says 90% of folk he deals with at car boot sales are normal people just getting the job done, the remaining 10% are true scum of the earth who will steal items that ate 10p from a kid selling them

Wasn't sure if this belonged in here or the 'local facebook groups' thread, buying a motorbike for your kids without first thinking if you have anywhere for them to ride it!
