Why intentional balloon releases are still only banned at council level and not nationally is beyond me. There is absolutely no useful purpose to them, aside from mass littering.
Not to mention a criminal waste of helium.
Good point ,as I think it is a finite source on Earth.

Weirdest thing I ever saw at a drive-through was at a drive-throughthru' ATM. A plaque with instructions in multiple languages.
Including Braille.

Well, it was in California after all.
for the numerous blind people who arrive with their chauffeur in a RHD car? hehe
Or... mayyyyybe... all ATMs are the same and they just install a standard ATM unit in any given location rather than bespoke ones without braille labelling?

Just a thought.
Yeah that's probably it.
It still made me drive round again to make sure I'd seen what I thought I'd seen. smile

It is bad. What do people actually think happens to these balloons?

A recent article on biodegradable "party" balloons that are being developed though.

Indeed. The other weak point with such bins is that seagulls and the like are able to enter and exit them without any difficulty. Much of the litter in the car park opposite my one-time workplace had, in fact, already been binned and then pulled out again by one of the many fowl in the area.
I don’t think fowl means what you think it does.

Oh well. Apologies for having used the word in its 'old' sense.

Not "old sense", just the wrong word.

Fowl - bird.
Foul - mess.

Not if it's birds pulling the rubbish out of the bins - if you substitute fowl with seagulls it makes perfect sense.

A few years ago I ( and others) litter picked a junction of the A303. We gathered 6-8 large bin bags full of take away coffee cups, red bull/ monster cans, kfc/ McD’s bags and the like. A month later it looked like we had never bothered, coffee cups, monster and red bull cans all over the place.

A significant proportion of the people I share this island with are complete tts.

On a local to me bypass at one end is a Costa coffee at the other end is a roundabout, when I drove past the roundabout on my then commute there would be an increasing number of Costa coffee cups, I can take a good guess that it was the same scummer stopping for his/her morning coffee and having finished it by the end roundabout hurled it out of the vehicle window
