Utter bks - most places that get booked up well in advance have had a festive menu out for a while now. My wider team tried to book into a nice London venue near our HQ this week for the first week of December and its already fully booked.

Yes, it's not right. My southern/middle-class sensibilities do not allow me to serve chips with gravy. Even pie with chips makes me anxious that I'm committing a culinary sin!

This is why us Northerners think that the South is full of softies. Can't do chips and gravy - preposterous. While I'm on the subject, gravy must be thick and brown, not the tap water you lot have as liquor with your pie and mash.

Proper gravy. Thick, brown gravy, is the absolute queen of sauces.
