Gravy must be thick and brown, not the tap water you lot have as liquor with your pie and mash.
Well I'll give you that. Gravy should have a consistency somewhere between emulsion paint and PVA glue. And liquor can get f
ked. But chips... Traditionally served with vinegar, salt, and if you want to nod to the Dutch/Flemish origins, mayonnaise. Adding gravy to vinegar or mayonnaise is just weird.
You wouldn't pour gravy on a salad (unless you are Glaswegian, in which case the chips ARE the salad)

This is why us Northerners think that the South is full of softies. Can't do chips and gravy - preposterous. While I'm on the subject, gravy must be thick and brown, not the tap water you lot have as liquor with your pie and mash.
I always thought liquor was parsley sauce not gravyHTP99 said:
Chips with mayo, oh yes fantastic.
Garlic Aioli is better.Gravy, Curry sauce etc. should be kept purely for dipping into and never tipped all over the chips like they're some kind of roast dinner.

on the subject of Northern chips (and gray-veh) - that vile green concoction known as 'mushy peas'
Only if you're having fish with your chips, and tartar sauce. Otherwise a no.otolith said:

My OH is from London. I have converted her to the gravy cause - along with one of the two kids.I'm fine with curry sauce because fish curry is nice right? Tartare of course, ketchup on occasion but gravy is just wrong, it's meat on fish, she's making council surf and turf.
And she doesn't have scraps with fish and chips.

That's it, you soft shandy drinking southern monkeys have gone too far
Disrespecting mushy peas is an act of war! Well it would be if you had anything in you after eating quinoa with crushed avacardo and side of seeded sourdough toast minus butter. Landlubber said:
I'm on thin ice here, but what about a nice Yorkshire fishcake? Wife loves em, im more, meh.
What is that? A Yorkshire pudding full of fish? There are a few good chip shops within a suitable distance of my house, but the one I usually go to is run by a Turkish family. So I always end up with chips and a kebab. Proper British chips, they are a chip shop that just happens to do kebabs too.
It's a very stodgy combo, less so since I realised I didn't need to order a large chips all to myself, to go with the large amount of bread and chili
I share one these days, much better.Has anyone ever ordered an egg, despite having previously had one? I had one about 20 years ago, never again.

I saw a car today in a supermarket car park with window stickers saying RIP to a name I couldn't quite make out and reversed pictures of some lad either side of it.
I know grief is a deeply personal thing but it struck me as proper council.
I've posted a pic of similar before. On a Mokka, or course, with a picture of a quad bike.I know grief is a deeply personal thing but it struck me as proper council.
A quick Google of the name and area confirmed my suspicions that the quad bike came to an end while being ridden illegally on the roads.
