interestingly there are quicker/better ways of boarding which could more than halve the time taken
I agree, but what do you mean? There must be a reason these things aren't already implemented.

The speed of boarding could be noticeably improved if passengers realised there are two entry points and if you have a higher row number you will be better going to the back rather than the front. Indeed many boarding cards tell you which entrance to use, but sadly this seems beyond the wit of many!

As does having basics like your phone and headphones in a pocket, outdoor jacket in your bag, book in hand.
Or, you could get on our of order so blocking others getting on and spend a minute ratching through your belongings to find your headphones, before putting bag up and sitting down...

Boarding quicker inevitably means spending longer sitting on the tarmac.

Interesting. I have always thought there must be a better way to do it, and it seems there is, it's just not very practical in the real world.

Yup. You're not leaving any earlier.

The near death of smoking, along with the smoking/vaping area being miles from the gate, has changed behaviours a little. I am just old enough to remember smokers gathering round, desperate to max their nicotine levels before getting on the plane. You don't see that now (however I do sometimes travel with a colleague who has nearly missed the plane because he's camped in the smoking area). Maybe smokers are more likely to slap on a patch, or go cold turkey for a few hours?

Loads of early morning flights won't go anywhere util the curfew is lifted. The authorities would rather have the cattle sat on a plane rather than clogging up the terminal.

I feel like that's an insult to decent council folk. Need another epithet, like "scum".

I have a vague recollection that the owner of that field had publicly invited people to use the field to pay their respects.

I doubt that this was what she had in mind...

Well if she's that thick, perhaps she will have learnt a lesson.

I know it's the mirror, but how is this news? If you don't get on the flight or let them know you missed it what do you expect to happen? Is there a stupidity clause on travel insurance?

The crucial and bizarre part being they didn’t let Jet2 know what they were doing. Just arrived at midnight (so at least 12 hours later than expected), and having not arrived for the flight part of their package, and assumed everything would be fine.

As if they thought the hotel would just keep their room empty for a week if they didn’t turn up. Just staggeringly low levels of common sense.

Or entitlement.
