My weather records in this location go back 14 years, this year's rainfall total to date (say end Sep) is approx' 50% higher than the previous highest.

It's been a wet year!

Hopefully the next 6 months will be on the dry side.

Yup. It's still raining here in work (Harwell, near Didcot) but it looks like this is going to start clearing for a chhilly, clear night and day tomorrow.

Winter is arriving. Yay. So excited, I'm so glad we had such a good summer to get us through the grey, dreary misery of winter

I was thinking that just a few days ago when I said to someone "It's officially Autumn and we're about to get 6 months of dark, rainy, gloomy weather". It occurred to me that this would just about be tolerable if we'd had 6 month of lovely summer days, several BBQs a week, endless blue skies.

Yep. I find myself deeply envious of people who don't seem to be bothered by the weather at all, or even those who like it grey and mild/cool.

Ah well. We move! Time goes on, and we can but hope next summer will be better.

The rain in the UK is absolutley horrendous at the moment. Every day, heavy, torrential rain throughout the day. It's absolutely fecking miserable. It is interspersed with nicer brighter weather but it's so wet it's hard to take advantage of.

I hate the UK weather

Its cooling down to a nice high 20's/ 30 in the evenings here in Saudi Arabia.

I prefer UK weather year-round, i.e. being able to actually go on a walk from May to September.

No rain in sight in Colorado. Coolest day in the 10 day forecast is next Tuesday; 21c. By quite a margin, rest of the forecast is closer to 30c.

We are having a bit of a game with Alexa at the moment. Will she warn us there is an alert for weather in our area when we get the news / weatehr each morning?
Here in Abingdon any hard rain tends to flood the local Tesco for a few days, which is a pain because its my primary source of 99 octane fuel! With all this bad weather, tax rises, doom and gloom etc, I think i really need to look at moving to somewhere less wet at least

Not just the UK, I've just returned from a 12 day European road trip, completely ruined by incessant rain every single day bar 1
This was an area between Calais and Florence, in both directions.

I've never known anything like it - even the ever-sunny riviera was underwater and the mountain passes were more like rivers.

Darn it, sorry to hear it was so badly impacted. We had similar issues in Sardinia about 4 weeks ago.

We were away 7 nights:

2x days were brilliant
2x days were extremely rainy and non-stop all day
2x days were high winds that made being out just not pleasant
1x day just overcast

Do these storms ever diminish in power quicker than expected? That's the only hope it would seem . . .

Having been through my fair share of hurricanes (worst was a Cat 3 - Fabian in 2003) sadly as it's over the gulf (being a fairly shallow and warm sea), there's very little chance of it weakening sadly

My aunt is in Fort Myers who only just got hit last year.

She’s down in Miami for this one.

Florida is surely uninsurable from a home point of view now? These are coming thick and fast.

I feel like the last couple of years I've been lucky when it comes to hurricanes and visiting Tampa...2022, I left before Hurricane Ian hit, 2023 Idalia hit a couple weeks before I arrived, and this year I got out before 2 massive storms. With this latest one heading straight for Tampa. Poor folks.
