I’d take “dirge” over this any day - no idea why anyone likes winter storms, they’re miserable and potentially harmful. I hate them.
And we don’t have dirge in the Highlands, we have clear blue skies and sunshine. I am not looking to a change from this smile

Decent day down here in West Devon also - frosty start, cold but sunny spells, just right.

Likewise here in Aberdeenshire - 2025 has been great so far. Lots of fresh powdery snow almost every day for the first fortnight followed by over a week now of near constant blue skies and sunshine. Lovely.

Living in a forest - storms are also a PITA. Blocked tracks and long power cuts, 10 days last time.

Blizzard warnings along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico!

https://x.com/weatherman_aaa/status/18816681315734...

Which, AIUI, will be the catalyst for our storms over the next 5 days or so. Some models suggest near hurricane-force gusts for Southern Ireland on Friday.

Freezing rain and about 1” of snow at 10pm in Charleston, SC, USA. Not a common event and the city has ground to a halt for about 24 hours.

MetOffice have gone amber for Friday from North Wales to the northern side of the Central Belt in Scotland. There is still room for red as they are predicting the highest winds - it's just likelihood holding it back from red.

Beginning to look like it could be pretty hairy here on the Isle of Man on Friday.

Lots of people claiming that the warnings are scaremongering. I hope they are right.

Sunday is forecast to be a bit brisk here in good old CO; snow due on the Saturday to liven things up, then a high of 8 degrees, and a low of -9 degrees.

Not quite up to fttm standards, but those are Fahrenheit temperatures.
Where in CO are you fella?
I'm in Denver / Boulder / Fort Collins in a couple of weeks so watching the CO weather closely!

Gonna be mildly breezy Ted !

"Red Wind warning come tonight. Storm Éowyn will see Hurricane force winds on Friday morning and over the early afternoon. I would ask everyone to stay indoors and safe until the warnings have expired and check in with vulnerable people. Please also ensure animals are kept inside and safe.

This storm is going to be one of the worse storms the country has ever seen if not in recent years and be very impacful. Many will have no power for days and there is going to be a big clean up operation after it.

I myself in all the years of starting the Donegal Weather Channel and previous to that have not seen forecasting models show these insane charts."

Unfortunately I will need to be in work Friday.

It's going to be an interesting day.

I'm awaiting the school closure message should we get an upgrade to a red warning.

I'm about a mile from the Coast.

Latest forecast is Eowyn will drop 62hpa in 30 hours.

A weather bomb drops 24hpa in 24 hours.

This is a remarkable storm.

Some of the wind gust charts from the weather models are astonishing in both wind speeds and agreement across the models, especially with less than 48 hours to go until the event.

Prior to landfall, gusts over the Atlantic could be 140mph
