Yes was also going to ask surely your colleagues were also hassled or watched extensively? Over at least 3/4 months if not a year ?
Surveillance ops are long term to catch the weakest link and it seems your collection point was the best time for the police to jump in and make an arrest
Why didn't they raid the warehouse where the scissor lifts were survey they knew when a delivery was coming in to the country ?

I'd say around 25-33% of prisoners genuinely want to better themselves, and yes, those are the ones who generally don't cause any bother.

Yes, being a prison officer is a tough job. There are some great screws, but there's also a lot of bad ones, especially the backroom and admin staff who have little interaction with the cons.

I have somewhere in one of my boxes, a reply to an App, asking permission to study an Open University course which I was going to fund myself.

The response from Security was, "it is a security risk for prisoners to do higher education".
Really, I worked for the OU and a large percentage of their students were in prison (a captive audience as it were).

Perhaps they weren’t drug dealers (prisoner category nor were they in the same prison as TVR when he tried to enrol)

how does a large wholesale deal go down the first time you are doing with a new customer/ supplier ?

Is it like a the movies where you all turn up and pat each other down for weapons in some warehouse?

Is money handed over first and then a signal is given to bring in the merchandise? Do the they test the merchandise for its authenticity or counting of cash ?

How often do people like to give fake merchandise / money?

Are there ever any meets or crazy parties in 5 star hotel suites with loads of ladies there to entertain etc before they get sent away while business is being done..

Obviously I’m asking all of the above in a hypothetical sense...

Btw do appreciate the candidness you have brought to this thread and not the typical billy big balls that people love to do on forums..

Thanks TVRM, another question that you may not be able to answer.

When a gang with connections directly to Mexico goes down, is there a liquidation process of assets such as the contacts list?

The 'connect' as they say in the movies in the cartel, and an introduction to them must be very valuable to someone wanting to takeover your patch?

Or is it a case of your business dies with you and whoever moves in will already have their own contacts.

very good read

I am surprised people don't understand that at a wholesale and above level it is just like any other business.

very serious very professional people shifting a product that just happens to be illegal.

from my very limited exposure it is lower down the ladder that it gets duke, ish and the silly games start getting played

If all the wholesale and above suppliers in the UK were locked up tomorrow but the demand for the product remained. How long until the supply chain got recreated?

In fairness, that's not really a very fair question for out tame jailbird is it?

Who Knows? But not long I suspect, although many of the somewhat sanctimonius 'don't-cricitise-the-OP-after-all-we've-all-used-recreational-drugs' and Hollywood wannabes may perhaps see that if supply was cut and demand remained the costs would rise and incidence of street crime would rise massively. So if your grandmother gets beaten up for her pension or the tools are nicked from your shed, there's probably a link.

Around the time that we closed down, a few other busy firms in the region also joined us at Her Majesties Pleasure.

Having spoken to a lot of 'end users' who were coming into prison, the prices on the street went up and quality went down, and that's if you were lucky enough to score.

After a few months, things went back to normal again.

All I'd say to them is enjoy it whilst it lasts, because sooner or later, you'll be going away for a long time. That much is almost a certainty.
Not sure about that, I know of people who have been at it for years with no custodial problems to mention.

I'm guessing their volume will be low / modest, right?

I can't imagine anyone shifting big volumes will go unnoticed for long..

Do you not think that certain people are being protected, either having bought off the authorities or by selling people out?

TVRMP - Do you know many people who got out when their 'legitimate' businesses started doing well and so there was little reason to continue.

I have 2 ex school mates who did this independently of each other both were turning over serious money in their early 20s at it

One opened an opticians that turned out to be way more successful than expected as it was designed to be a front and the gear was stopped soon after

The second started an IT consultancy based on top tier tech at the time and it took off for him when he won a few big contracts early on

... and some don't.

His flower shop business was started to launder the funds but proved extremely profitable. His haulage business by comparison was a total lose, largely because of propensity to buy very expensive toys like a hiab to be used once a month.

It’s probably a genuine desire to ‘go straight’ and lose/live without the accoutrements of a lavish and overly funded lifestyle that makes the difference here

Badda, you’ve made your feelings / opinions clear several times on this thread. You’re entitled to your opinions, and I respect them. Therefore I do hope that you can likewise respect mine, whether or not you agree with them.

I’m not bitter about getting caught. I’m bitter about so called mates stabbing me and others in the back, but that’s another story. However, I do think that the guidelines for drugs, (excluding heroin, crack and spice), are somewhat draconian.

Id derive little or no pleasure from seeing a fair percentage of others go through what I went through. I know you’ll have a different opinion, and I’m sure that you’ll be keen to share it with me, however, I have no interest in getting into a slanging match.
Your opinion on drug laws being draconian is a bit of a red herring IMO, you've not been done for possession but for supply and all the misery that it entails. I think wishing others well in their dealing exploits is abhorrent.
