Had a 3 hour session this morning, lotus flower on the inside of my arm. Looks like once the missus's name is put in the remaining space with the water it will be almost a 1/2 sleeve!

I like that in a none gay way.
Gheyyyyy.
I'll be the judge of that seeing it was aimed at me and thank you. In a non-gay way..smile

Inside of the arm ?

Cap doffed, that must have zinged a bit, I suppose ?

Looks well.
The shading did get a bit scratchy the 3rd time going over... The next session is the back of my arm, shading the fish and liking it all together with water. Missus was the one who suggested (and partially paid!) for it so far.
You can hardly feel it there. confused

Inside of the elbow bend is far worse, as is the outside of the elbow, where the bone is.

Indeed it would. I might consider having my factual IQ tattoo of '152' on my arm.

I bow to your pain threshold KH, that 8 hours on your back would have sent most running for the morphine.

It was scratchy but certainly not unbearable. Parts of it made my fingers and armpit tingle others hardly felt like it was being done at all. In still a newbie at the tattoo game with only 5 !

A full sleeve in 13 hours? You must have the worlds fastest tattooist, or are you using a team of them all working together?

Had my first session with Kamil on wednesday. Spent a good 2 hrs refining the design and trying a few things out before doing the outline work.
It's a bit of a mix mash of space/planets/DNA strands/faces. and a sundial. (Hmm.. it does now sound like i was on acid when designing it hehe)

I'm going to do a little time lapse film once we get onto the next session.
Pain wise it was a bit odd, it was totally bearable and easily blocked it out of my mind but I don't think my body liked all the adrenaline the pain was producing and had to take a break once my body started shaking! Guessing some sugary drinks and eating more before I start work work? Oh and mtfu i know of course!

Thanks for enlightening us!

What does your IQ have to do with a light hearted joke?

That is going to really grind you down. I worked out that five hours is about the max I could take at one time. After that it just got to be too uncomfortable and tiring. The pain resistance wears down slowly but surely.

My full sleeve was done in 2 6 hour sessions. No colour just black and shading.

I see from your post above that your getting the inside of your armpit done too? is this instrumental to the design or anything? I didn't get it done as its a part that no one will ever really see. Plus its going to hurt like a mother f****r

It is part of the design,I have one koi on my forearm and another on the inside of my bicep due to existing ink. Plus,to me, a sleeve IS a full sleeve.

It does hurt, but I can normally "get into the zone" and ignore it.

I always feel really beat up when I get home after a day in the chair though.

I've never had a tattoo so I'll ask the usual question, how much does it hurt?

Is it as bad as the needle being injected into a wound before you have it stitched up?

That pain I couldn't tolerate for an hour.

Its not so much the needle on a bigger piece, its more the consant rubbing of tissue to clear excess ink that creates a rawness I think. Certain places hurt more , like close to the bone or a sensitive area.

The pain is more of a burn I would say, but it seems differnt for everyone.

The example you gave would have a needle inserted directly and deeply into the muscle, tattoing only just breaks the first couple of layers of skin - its an odd thing to describe really.
