This seems like the best thread for this question. Has anyone ever had an existing, healed tattoo become raised and itchy for a short period?

I had my latest in June last year. Today I noticed my arm itching, like an insect bite kind of itch, and when I washed my arm I noticed a large section of the tattoo was raised.

After a few hours it has nearly returned to normal.

Yeah, I get this with dark red ink. It's known for triggering mild reactions in people and my tattoos will still get irritated occasionally even though some of them are 20 odd years old now.

I’d find a few artists who’ve done similar and speak to them on the best option for the result you want. There are pet orientated ink pad kits available. Not something I’ve done so be wary to check the ingredients. Closest I’ve come is when my cats walked through wet paint and trod it all around the house rolleyes

Ha glad I’m not the only one. One of ours fell in a tub of paint and left a trail of Dulux Warm Truffle all over the flat laugh
My old lab had IBS... He used to leave warm truffle everywhere too. Bloody dog... RIP Colin.

Interesting, thanks. This one is all black. I have a black and red tattoo on my chest that has been fine for a few years and a crap black one on my arm that has never been an issue in 20 years or so.

This is the one that raised up but it's back smooth now. Very strange.

I'm intrigued!

What's the story behind that?

The idea behind this was the 4 elements connected by geometry. A geeky nod to how mathematics runs through nature. I asked the artist to incorporate the symbols with the Fibonacci spiral/golden ratio and this is what he came up with.

Better pic from when it was done:

I get it sometimes in the thick black lines of my tattoo, normally when I'm hot. It freaked me out the first time but a google said it was kinda common so I don't notice it anymore.

I got really close to booking my next handpoke this week but my bank account must've seen me messaging the artist as all the money evaporated.

Hopefully in a couple of weeks.

Going to be a portrait of iggy pop based on the Raw Power album cover. Done by the same person who did my Annihilation one.

The best thing for me about moving on to the boat is that I can’t spend my money on clothes, shoes and other household possessions. I can however spend my money on tattoos haha smile in tomorrow for my shin, another session booked in a few weeks. Then end of May with Kyle Warwick. I’ll then have a break over summer so I can enjoy the weather and water sports etc.

That's brilliant, I really like that - both the concept and the execution.

I've just booked for my shin too, but mines end of May. Would love to hear how you get on, I'm not sure whether it's gonna be super painful because bone, or fine because less squidgy bits.

I remember shins not being particularly painful but occasionally the vibration travelled all the way up and rattled my fillings smile

Indeed. Shins are very buzzy.

Yep this is how I’d describe it after today. First session on my shin wasn’t as near as painful as I’d expected. However a weird vibrating/buzzy sensation. Almost felt my leg and foot wanting to twitch like a dog when you hit that sweet spot! Totally different experience. Have two more sessions booked on this piece over the next six weeks which will hopefully then see me with a full right leg sleeve.

Can someone explain the recent fashion for multiple tattoos that look like they cost a fiver each?

Whilst I am not a massive fan of tats I can appreciate the art of some of them. But I am seeing a lot of beautiful young people with what can best be described as doodles all over them and I don’t understand what the thought process is.
