is that why Peter Kay cancelled his last tour , as he realised he’d run out of material ?
He’s done to death his previous material. Eventually relying on music injected into all his routines including that car share thing. I don’t find him in the slightest bit funny now.
Totally with you.

I clicked on this thread immediately thinking of Peter Kay.....says it all

An overheard conversation in the office gives me a deeper understanding of people who find Mrs Brown's Boys funny.

You probably already know this, but its women called Janet, Pam or Dawn who work in Accounts Payable, or Payroll, or just General Admin.

They're somewhere between 45-59 and don't have children, or children at home. They have husbands who watch Sky Sports "on the big telly" whilst they are relegated to the little freeview only channel set up in the kitchen whilst they cook dinner and do the ironing etc.

As such Mrs Browns Boys is the best they know about, because they can't fathom Netflix or Amazon or YouTube.

They then discuss it in the office because it is hilarious

Crikey, you're right! But why didn't you tell us this 113 pages ago?
Damn, I was wrong, nobody would think you are funny.

Vic and Bob pretty much nailed Peter Kays ‘comedy’ on shooting stars.

That said both Phoenix Nights and Car Share I really enjoyed - but his stand up is dire

Bob tells some very funny stories with some great nicknames, like his mate with the big head - ''snipers dream''.

Thought Phoenix Nights was overrated but probably his best work. The show was written/created by three people, not just Kay.
st at stand up and really didn't see the appeal of Car Share. Appalling as Danny Baker's dad in whatever that show was, now forgotten by most people.

I used to have an LP of his. Some great sketches - tobacco, US nuclear submarine, airline...

I don't find Peter Kay funny at all.

I love Bob Mortimer but i don't much care for Vic Reeves.

Lee Evans was on Graham Norton last week , i only have to look at him & i'm laughing

"Sniper's Dream"

Lee Mack and David Mitchell feed him and it's properly funny.

Peter Kay not being a comedian is a bit of a go-to 'bit' for other comedians, such as Richard Herring. He is and he isn't. Just saying nostalgia things, or things that might remind you of what old people say is not comedy. He does say some jokes, but they tend to be the sort that appeal to the those that laugh at the non-joke parts of the act. That's just stand up though; he has done some terrible terrible TV, particularly where he tries to be surreal or 'off the wall'. When this extends into personal appearances it's even worse - did he not just behave like a total once on a chat show?

You're in the minority on PH it would seem, but that's fair enough. Different strokes etc etc.

Personally I find it hilarious, though the series with Liza Tarbuck and others was bad, the rest have been a pretty consistent high standard.

And you don't like Dave Gorman either, whereas I think he is brilliant.
The series with Paul Chowdhry in it was brilliant, especially when he made the 'snowman'.
The best series imho.

Not sure how anyone can say Tasksdter isn’t funny. It’s one of the funniest shows in ages*.

  • Didn’t really enjoy the most resent series as much as previous ones.

Dave spikey wrote a lot Of Phoenix Nights, and if you catch one of his shows it is like a mature Peter Kay routine The Newspaper ads had me crying
His book is a laugh as well

And American Comics

Way back in 1963 my Yankee pen pal sent me an LP fro Christmas entitled 'Why is there Air' It was a young black comic called Bill Cosby

I was hooked and have about 10 of his LPs and even now they are funny. Some of his stories are brilliant One of the first observational comics

Shame about his antics Gutted i missed at the Palladium a few years back
