Just seen Flo + Joan on tv,not heard of them before and I hope I never do again.
On a scale of 1 to 100 for funniness I think 1 is generous.
Saw them live at the Soho Theatre last week, in front of a full crowd they were very very good and they got top reviews from the comedy press. On a scale of 1 to 100 for funniness I think 1 is generous.
I appreciate that their act may not translate to TV very well, theirs is an act that benefits from the feedback of a room full of laughing people.
There were some references made to 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?" a few weeks ago.
It looks like they have a few shows at the RAH in a few weeks time!!!! To be honest, I'm half-tempted!

Trouble is there are no boundaries to push any more and nothing is risque, we have heard it all before. You cannot shock and nobody cares what words you use on TV.
Best way to see comedy is live at a small venue with a couple of beers and others around you laughing.
A lot of the big names are on tour for so long that you have heard most of their set by the time you get to see them live.

Christmas is approaching so no doubt appearing in the bargain DVD bin at a supermarket near you: Roy Chubby Brown.
There was a similar bloke called Jethro who probably coins it at Christmas as well. I've never heard him utter a word but suspect he's not great. Now I’m a dyed in the wool Londoner, ex lorry driver, and taxi driver, who can eff and blind worse than most, but this pr*t knew what his audience had come for, and it was eff this, and c word all the time, he was, (to me), vomit inducing.
I had to go, I told my friends that I’d turn right out of the door, and be in the first bar I could find, that didn’t have a TV showing football, or a British soap.
As for Jethro, I’ve been sent a few 8-10 seconds lasting WhatsApps featuring him, just a quick funny, and that’s it, his schtick is his West Country, Devon or Somerset accent, and he plays it up well, but I’m not sure that I could stand 30-40 minutes of it, but he seems relatively harmless compared to the other sick jerk.
This thread needed a quick reviving negating the need to start a new one.
It sounds like a cliche but I genuinely found what was on TV over the holidays very poor, not helped by a surplus of 'comedians' that were simply unfunny. In days of yore, the King would have had them executed.
The Graham Norton show had that Nan/Gran character of Catherine Tate. Sorry, nothing funny about Tate or her character. Just rubbish.
There was some unknown embryo on 8 out of 10 cats does countdown. The regular panellists earn their keep, but that guy in dictionary corner, and Kathy Burke were just unfunny.
Sarah Millican. I cannot stand that dreary whiney woman either. The tone of her voice has me reaching for the remote.
So...in my analysis, we seem to be short of decent female talent especially. (I quite like Catherine Ryan). And as per the Mrs Browns Boys thread, there really is some dross about.

Sarah Millican is by far the worst comedian I have ever had the misfortune of seeing live. It was basically an hour plus of begging to buy her book.
She's not for me either but she's made some serious money from her particular brand of 'comedy'.Just saw a TV advert for a new show where they make a stand-up routine into a sketch. It was only 10 or 15 seconds but plenty long enough to see it's utter ste.

Presumably Colin Mochrie will still do his "standing about, looking puzzled" act
And no Richard Vranch.
We went to the Albert Hall to see this and it was fantastic, start to finish. And no Richard Vranch.
The musicians were the 2 ladies who appear on the show in the USA where it still runs and is very popular I understand. They were terrific.
It made a change to be entertained by very professional and talented comedians who didn't need to swear or talk about periods to be very funny indeed.
