It’s been terribly frustrating! Do people with real hands on skills exist in this country anymore, or has everyone turned into paper shufflers and button pressers!?

I need to find a carpenter, master craftsman, cabinet maker or whatever the right name is for someone who can make high quality products in wood, in the Luton, Beds area… Ongoing work available for someone with the right skills.

We also need to buy a CNC router machine to help with making outdoor furniture and signs.

Can anyone suggest a website or organisation? Thanks

Few and far between I'm afraid, I would suggest some of the companies I've come across before, if they werent a complete bunch of jokers.

Latest cracker, The chuckle brothers spend three days knocking up a fancy pants display cabinet in an office reception, custom cut glass arrives for the front.. doesnt fit, they built the cabinet incorrectly.

The looks on thier faces were great as they measured the glass, then thier handywork, over and over and realisation slowly dawned on them!

I do know one good company, based in South Africa... so probably not much help.

Good luck in your hunt.

Whatever happens we need to make/source the products, so even if we ship in from overseas, if we absolutely have to I will consider. Thanks for the comments.

They do ship stuff all aroung the world, I believe a lot of thier business is "fancy" display cabinets for airport duty free shops, but they do loads of other stuff too.

If you're struggling PM me a rough spec of the job(s) and I'll poke it under the nose of one of the partners, see what he says and if its something they would do.

Many thanks guys!

Examples of the type of outdoor furniture we need are shown here: http://www.prestwickgolfgroup.com/

Some made from Recycled HDPE plastics (also need to source materials), and finished to a very high standard.

There will be a substantial amount of ongoing work for whoever can genuinely help, so feel free to PM me.

Are you wanting to source the recycled plastics? or the plastics to recycle yourself?

I do know a place I have done some work at, this is what they do. Yorkshire area. I am going to try remember their name now.

I would like to buy in sheet form for CNC work, and/or extruded planks. Similar to buying lengths of timber then fabricate.

Actually just realised. I would try yacht clubs forums. Yacht builders etc. In the boating industry there are true "tradesmen".

So you're going to machine blocks/sheets of plastic or finish machine injection moulded pieces? High quality joinery in what material?

By the way, http://www.nevilleconstruction.co.uk/default.asp?s...

We put a 5 axis CNC in there - good lads.

If you're interested in a CNC machine for wood/joinery/plastics drop me your Email or number and I'll get in touch. I work for one of the biggest suppliers of CNC machines in the country.
