I feel honoured but I'm not sure if it's for me, or what I'd get from it. Can anyone offer any advice, are you a Freemason?

Edit for name change 9/01/11:
Now known as Ferodocastrol and I still have not made up my mind but the door is still open, apparently!

Choose your lodge very carefully, I was originally in a lodge made up of a couple of friends my age group with the rest being 20+ years older, moved within a year as it was tediously boring.

Gave it up in the end as there were far far better ways to spend an evening

If you can do better than that stupid Faith Evans remix then I'm all for it. Best of luck.

  • do you have a family?
  • can you recite an entire book from memory (slightly aided)?

whatever you do don't ask that question when you get interviewed

you get out what you put in with masonry - you get to meet a load of people you wouldn't normally associate with, it's a evening a week out of the house (once you start to get to more senior positions in your lodge), it keeps your mind on the go having to learn the ritual and rubrik and you raise money for charity

granted it's not for everyone but you can join more than one lodge if your mother lodge (the one you initially join) isn't to your taste

That's a pretty good summary.

I would however think very carefully about it, as some lodges can be very old fashioned, whereas others can be a good laugh with people your own age. At the end of the day it's just a get together and raising a bit of money for charity though.

Interesting when you're waaaaaaaay up the ladder.

I'm married, so I would answer yes to that one.

If someone has asked you, then they've brocken the code.

You have to ask them.

I think anyone would be nuts to join something like that. So if that's your thang, at least you'd be meeting like-minded individuals silly

Whilst everybody say's don't join it for what you get out of it, in my experience many do. You will get a great opportunity to network and you may get a leg up in your business/career. People like doing business with people they know and trust. It's a great upstanding organisation dedicated to charity - nuff said?

Cheers for that, I guess what I mean is, what satisfaction would I get out of being a Mason, is it a status thing (not into that) or a religion (not into that either) I don't believe in a higher power and as for goats, I've been a veggie since 1995, I'm 43, never smoked, don't drink, and never killed anyone, or a goat. LOL.
