You have to ask them.
Stop telling everyone the code! You are breaking the code

There are three types of mason.

The working type, who puts a lot of effort in and contributes.

The "knife and fork mason", who only there for the beer, and.......

The Holy type, who wear dark blue and sit in the lodge room going, "Oh God, no...."
And the 33rd degree types like George Bushbiggrin

I'm a girl tongue out

But if I can ever get my Dad to go through (he refuses - says he is too old!) you'll get one!

Rumours that this is CVM getting ready for a weekend in Gt Yarmouth in the fibreglass rape shed are of course unfounded.

We all know who it REALLY is......

you can ask or be asked - nothing wrong with either way

despite what's been posted on this thread it's not a secret society but a society with secrets - if you knew everything about FM why would you want to join and progress?

the 'not knowing' was certainley part of the appeal for me, would have been uninteresting if i had already known what it was about.

It's all here: United Grand Lodge of England

If you ask 20 masons what they get out of being a Freemason you'll get 20 different answers. It isn't for everyone but if you are interested in self-development, morality, honour and charity amongst other things then you will get a lot from it.

It most certainly is not a religion, nor is it a substitute for religion but it is true that you have to believe in a 'higher' or 'supreme being'. What that might be is your affair and you will never be asked. All topics of political or religious discussion are forbidden as is using your membership for pecuniary gain. Like any organisation there will be the one or two bad apples that are in it for what they can get out of it in business or other areas.

Any more questions then ask away - there isn't a lot we can't tell you about what we get up to but we may refrain from telling you everything so we don't spoil the experience should you decide to join. Some good discussion forums are freemason.com and Lodgeroomuk

Do FMs still wear an apron? My dad and I went through my grandfather's FM kit a few years ago and came across his one, and we couldn't work out what it represented.
