Really? Can only say from personal experience that I have used it to good effect, although fully accept that is more than one way to skin a cat so to speak.

Snack time! Just finished off some Tecos's ricecakes I found in the cupboard. With a little light Philadelphia and a fruit tea.
Oatcakes, cottage cheese, ricecakes, cheese triangles, light peanut butter on the shopping list.
And maybe some nuts.

Some of these nut carbs seem to be in conflict. Not sure how salted nuts can have less carbs than raw either.

Another thing I forgot to mention, that your ref. to fruit tea reminded me of, is orange Fybrgel (sp?) - I have a sachet or two mixed with water. Tastes fine and takes away that hollow empty feeling after a short while + may well be good for your health wise by adding fibre to the diet, esp. if you're on a restricted intake?

I am bulking at the moment. Eating the required ammount of food is a real struggle for me
I'm in a similar position. Get on the Oats from myprotein or similar, I've found them a massive help. 2 scoops whey, 2 scoops oats & 500ml milk is around 800 decent calories before bed!

I thought I'd post here as well.

As I mentioned on the Transformation thread, I've just started carb cycling/back loading. So low carbs especially on non-weights days, slight increase after lifting weights. Am aiming for ~150g a day.

I may tweak it if I'm not seeing the results I want. By tweak it, I mean reduce carbs even further on non-weights days. We'll see.

I'm back on a serious cut from today, first carb free breakfast so treated myself:
4 rashers of bacon
Scrambled eggs
2 black pudding (non oat variety)
Who said a training diet was hard ey?

Oh yes I'm well aware, tried keto for a few months over summer with some good results
. Don't think I had the fats high enough though as I went very angry and one weekend had 3 pints on the replenishment day which put me to bed being the most drunk I have ever been.
It's go time now, mixing eca with keto till my exams in April then again after, anyone know where I can get keto sticks from?

Just a note, avoid "light" peanut butter. All the good stuff in peanuts are in the oil.

Don't know what evidence, expertise - or agenda - this 'expert' has but this article is very worrying regarding the use of proteins in bars (and some powders) given I'm virtually living on them at the moment; pity it doesn't name them.

When I go down (just showered/cooling down after training) I'm going to look at the labels on my bars for this bit

"Anything containing casein hydrolystates should be avoided. These can be found in protein bars, drinks and powders and this type of casein is drenched in MSG."

Anyone know/come across more?

I've not read the article but surely MSG is a common, naturally occurring substance used in many common foodstuffs?

Im currently on the Primal Blueprint caveman style diet. Nearly a week in. The ideas really make sense from a health point of view IMO. Im not great with high carb diets - before I started training I put on loads of weight from my conventional wisdom way of eating.

Fasting style diets are out as I get quite grumpy when I dont eat. Its good you can eat as much as you want but just the correct things, i.e no grains, processed sugar. Im not planning on going to go into ketosis as sometimes eat some fruit. I have done it before and the dodgy breath has put me off!
