A friend has done P90 and Insanity and tbh, he should have stopped at P90. He has a pic of how he was after both side by side and after Insanity, he looks ripped but gaunt and emaciated. He has lost about 5 stone in total and is now down to 7.5% body fat which looks awful imo

No point having a low bodyfat % if you've no muscle underneath to show off! Rocking the Ethiopian look is sooo 1990.....

Being skinny and having a six pack is like a fat girl with big boobs or at least thats what my buddy reckons....

More like a fat girl with no boobs.
Now that's cruel.

Before I took the plunge, I trawled a number of forums and one of the few negative comments was that P90X can become addictive for some and because your fitness levels are so much higher at the end, there is the temptation to dive straight into Insanity or other ultra-extreme programmes. A good problem I guess but a problem to keep an eye on none the less.

I'm going to start doing this in the next couple of days (ignoring the dietary side of it as i eat quite healthily anyway - plus im quite a fussy eater)

Have a friend whose done it on/off and shifted some bulk and toned up well!

The diet is a big factor of these plans so I would advise you to read through the diet plan / guide. Especially if you want really good results.

That's a shame. Certainly, for a bloke, having muscles looks better than a wannabe catwalk model. Insanity is more about cardio so some of that muscle he got from P90X is gonna disappear.

Have you done both or either?

No. I have a reasonable imagination.

Oh, AFAIK, Insanity is only cardio. P90X requires certain equipment such as pull up bars and weights.

Interesting that some PH'ers are already doing this.

I made the decision to do it last night and have ordered the kit and some resistance bands today. A friend has had amazing results in 3 months and is now in his second round.

Fitting the sessions in is going to be my biggest challenge, when do people find it best to do the training? First thing in the morning?

It may be a silly question, but is it painfull, and by that I mean when not when doing the actual routines, but when sitting at work the next day? Do you constantly have stiff muscles and aches and pains? If I do weights or go for a long run, I'll likely be stiff for a couple of days but nothing too bad, however, doing it six days a weeks for 90 days solid may have more of an impact. How do you feel day-to-day during the 90 days?

Some people reckon that first thing before eating is the best to burn fat. But then you read other trainers and they stat you should least eat something about an hour prior.

I'm doing all mine when I get in from work about half 6. That's the only time I get. Just get home, changed and bang on the DVD and smash it out. Don't sit down or do anything else because you just wont feel like doing it.

Supplements can help. The first few days you feel stiff but then more you get in to it and the better your diet becomes than this all works in to your favour.

I'm fairly achy in some muscles but no where near stiff like when I started. Like I say supplements help and good amount of protein.

Chap on here recommended bcaa+ tablets to help recovery and they are working a treat. Have to take about 15 a day but you get used to it.

I'd say that if you get to sit down all day for work then it shouldn't matter how achey you are as you won't really be needing to rely on your weary body so much.

Get it started, you'll soon get stronger and the aches won't be so bad

Damn you and your logic. You could see me creating an excuse not to do it and have headed it off at the pass. smile

Shall I take a bow? smile

BCAA's are interesting because I put off using it for a long time due to the science being flaky but then when I started sipping it during training (I use powder + water, tastes like cat sick!) I found my recovery to be massively improved.
