I'm interested to hear peoples takes on the supplements and recovery drinks?

What works for you?
How do you fit them in with training?
What to buy and where from?

The recovery drink seems to work well for me, I am only a couple of weeks in to the program. I haven't tried the p90x drink, can't remember the blog which recommended it but I use this http://www.myprotein.com/uk/products/recovery_xs after a work out, I get really tired this puts me back to wide awake again just tired muscles. Still haven't got the diet right so that is probably part of it.

BCAA's are interesting because I put off using it for a long time due to the science being flaky but then when I started sipping it during training (I use powder + water, tastes like cat sick!) I found my recovery to be massively improved.
rofl

Yes Ordinary Chap suggested them and to be honest they must be working because I'm no where near a stiff or sore from the workouts. You will always feel a little stiff but nothing which causes any issues. Would recommend.

I take them in tablet form.
Also I take CLA tablets to help break down fat while doing a lot of cardio and good diet. And like a multi Vit tablet.

MyProtein! The cheapskate in me always wins! I just drink it and tell myself to man up when I wonder why I'm doing it! You could try flavoring drops to improve the taste!

BOOM !!! Order placed.

I've now got 2 weeks before we start the program, better make sure I'm good to go. Me and the wife plan to do it together in the evening once we've got the kids in bed.

Right. So... you prefer the cat vomit flavour. I understand. You hear about all these protein shakes... and it kinda feels wrong.

Rock !SOLID! !KILL EVERY MOFO! Whey Protein...
For Real Men who don't take no st!
In two great flavours: Strawberry Sundae and Caramel Fudge.

I mean, real men would drink beef flavour protein shake... or cast iron filings flavour... or radioactive waste flavour.

nuts

Amazon - £106 delivered. You can get secondhand ones on Ebay but I couldn't be bothered waiting for the end on an auction. Besides, I' m happy to pay £100 if it works.

I just bid the ones on ebay right up. Ppl had max bids set at over £80. At that price I'd rather buy new anyway.

My DVDs have been posted now so hoping to start on Monday. The wife is going to do it with me so we need to work out whats the best time of day, i.e. in the morning with our son tearing around, or in he evening once he's gone to bed.

I'm on day 3 of my reduced calorie diet now too. Aiming for around 1600-1700 calories a day and it's surprisingly easy to hit. Cut out all food after 6pm and have cut down on the carbs whilst upping the protein. Once I have the P90x diet planner then I'll see how that fits with what I'm doing.

Were you on the pop last night buddy?

Anyway I prefer to drink something water based when training and my lazyness in buying any flavouring drops or similar is the reason I drink it with water alone.

The truth is always so much duller right? smile

I would recommend following the diet and exercise to the letter unless you know better... otherwise, results may differ.
