My last visit to my current gym tonight, membership ends tomorrow, going to be weird after a year of three times a week.

Starting at Total Fitness in Handforth Dean, anyone else go there ?
Not for years, but drive the bypass every week. In fact i'll be on it in 90 mins. Traffic's a nightmare at the moment where the new road joins at the Poynton/Bramhall roundabout.
Yes, did consider the Fit4Less further down but its a pig to get to and the place is a bit trampy, the car park looks like a council tip, used to go to TF years ago, maybe 12 years, been at Energie the last year so TF is bigger and better, just will take some getting used to again. Its just one junction further down the bypass to TF and that section doesnt snarl up like the bit further down, hopefully things should improve when they sort the junction out that has been ongoing like three years.

Are you moaning about that?
When don't students moan lol. Corbyn promises free gyms?
I'm not moaning... I thought we were having a pissing contest about how much you pay vs what you get. I think for £33/mo that is pretty hard to beat! I'm not a student. We have an office on their business park and part of the deal is we get access to the facilities for decent money. The student prices are comically cheap. I think you could at one time pay something like £350 and get access for the duration of your course!!! Now I think their early deal is £199 for the year which is a bout £16 a month. You cannot fall off at that price.

not sure if it's better suited to here or the 'what training have you done' thread. but a good video from alan thrall on not wasting time in the gym.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1zLTBudY6c

I'm in and out in an hour doing 3 compound lifts. never bothered with stretching, i warm up with the bar. and as he said, the first few warm up sets feel like crap, but it gets better. i use my phone but only because i use the timer on it.

Yeah, I've got a gym moan.

The petite blonde who decided to do her squat and deadlift routine next to me this morning.
Little Miss 'Look at me' was wearing what can simply be described as a minimal bikini top and the teeniest, tiniest, spray-on pair of light blue 'panties', cut across her butt cheeks and with a 'nude' fit on the front. Of course, all this exacerbated once she started squatting.

Why is this an annoyance?

Because I had to work so much harder on my lateral raises and bicep curls! No stopping and huffing and puffing half way through each set; just continuous reps with perfect form.

It's unacceptable!

Watching people wearing knee wraps and belts for basic and light dead lifts or squat (either with bar or squat machine), ok some might need them for medical reasons but there seems to be an unordinate amount that use them lately?

Heres one;

Then after IG stalking some girl, this popped up in her bio,
http://invigorateclinic.com/

So being a simpleton that i am, it all seems so baffling and im not doubting her credentials but is this the new 'online PT training'/herbalife? Or no different really to the official internet doctors you get?

That form is shocking. He literally plummets down to the bottom each rep, there's no attempt at all to control it?

Assuming that the plates are the largest most gyms have (25kg) he's effectively leg pressing 150kg? How much effort? And it could well be just 120kg!

And his knee lockouts made me shudder.

That is a Hack Squat, you cannot use half as much weight with that than a Leg Press. A 150kg Hack Squat isn't bad, TBH

I'd definitely be making some noise if I was hack squatting 150k, no doubt.

But what's the point when you simply can't control the negative at all

Cant comment on the form as ive never liked that machine - can never figure out feet placement and therefore knee positioning, but the weights are 20kg plates.

They only have or had 2 plates at 25kg and i cant see them having bought anymore - its my old gym. That guy is a 'new' PT there so i dont know him but he won some BB comp recently (but the category where you dont have to show leg muscles/wear board shorts). I just dont get why you need a belt and wraps though.

Though at Gymbox, im not sure how some of the guys there dont topple over

Someone this morning hogging the squat rack, smith machine, power rack, 2 bar bells, and one of those vibrating plates. He was doing a couple of reps on each then moving on.

Fair play if the gym is empty, do what you want. But as soon as people start forming a queue to use the stuff, I think you'd have to be a bit of c-unit to carry on your routine taking it all up.

Also when he was finished he left it all where it was, didn't both re-racking anything. Bit of a bugbear of mine.

The guy the other day who took one of the Deadlift stations, all his stuff there, wanders off, comes back, does a set, then fks off again, has a chat, comes back, does a set, all the time I was in the gym he was there fking about, and he made a fuss about lifting 60/70 kilos like he was in WSM, ok I nearly fainted after my last set but I didnt make a fuss about it biggrin

Then there are the guys that train together, get four sets of dumbells out, couple of barbells, finish then leave it all on the floor.

Douche in the gym on Wednesday doing exactly the same thing - a set of DLs every 5 minutes or so. Lifting basically bugger all (80kg or so) but making a huge song and dance about it, dropping it completely at the end of every set, etc.

He walked off after his second set, doing the full "Big Man" swagger. One of the gym rat guys that is actually strong walked over and took the weights off the bar while he was gone, then sat there giggling when the douche came back and looked upset.

to be fair, depending on how many reps I do at 80kg (10-15) I might take a break of 4min+ between sets.
