Not quite sure how the bands work against the squatter, no point asking them as they just ignore my technical questions;

My eyes are bleeding.

You had me at "Smith Machine Squats", but that junk is an abomination. It also features:

(1) High squats despite having a bench to gauge depth.

(2) Inward knee collapse.

(3) The "break my cervical spine because looking up will make the weight lighter" form that is a sure sign of a moron.

Is that not about 15kgs they are lifting, too?

I guess it makes it far easier to get out of the hole.

That whole instagram feed is a treasure trove of terrible form and no-clue coaching.

I might try a half bench press to see how much I could lift. Quite a lot, I expect, but I cannot see the point!

Ive asked them if its an actual training video or an attempt at satire and they just said my autistic ways on instagram so im guessing i wont be getting a reponse.

Half Bench does have its benefits though and i think im going to have to bench like that from now on (due to shoulder).

Also, going back to the toilet habits in Gymbox, the girl im seeing is an instructor there and she says the girls are just as bad or even worse

To play devil’s advocate slightly, partial reps DO have their legitimate uses.

For example, I really like floor presses, which in real terms is arguably a partial rep, but I find it has real crossover to my full ROM pressing.

Mind you, that’s not to excuse those who do partials and then count them as proper reps.

You know it! No problem with partial reps if they are being used as partial reps. But I would bet my house on that video showing what the guy calls a "bench press".

That kind of form makes judging progress very hard. I bet his bench press was legit when it was 100kg. He has got no stronger since then - he's just shortened the ROM.

Not really, if its a gym putting out 'inspirational vids' to entice members/social media, youd have thought that they would make sure that everything is correct to show that they know what they are doing really.

Unless its due to broscience/satire?!?

Or maybe some of us are just 'old school' and believe in form

But otherwise, yeah, Ords a ;-)

Floor presses are great for strengthening the transition part.
I thin my current weakness is lower than that, half depth/floor is where I'm stronger.
What's good for off the chest?

The 'dancing feet' during his 'bench press' tells you all you need to know about that gym/PT's focus on form.

Not a gym moan but a health moan (health, fitness etc).

stupid girl at work (and several others) going on about how they believe citrus makes you lose weight because it 'burns/cuts the fat'. one of them brings a lemon in each day to put into their tea and another one puts apple cider vineagar in theirs.

she also said 'if you drink water in the morning it'll boost your metabolism b 20%'

i kind of feel like we should have a food/weight loss/gain/bro science moans topic on things like these.

Trained at the Leisure Centre gym tonight. A number of female new starters wandered in wearing gym gear and carrying handbags. There were also groups of young men monopolising the benches and comparing things on their phones. Very little real exercise going on.

Well being full hydrated is best for the body to operate at optimum, and a lot of people are not hydrated enough, she may have got this from an article?
