Is that still the case?
Yep. I know literally dozens of pretty serious recreational runners. I know about 2 people who lift. And even they mostly run.j_4m said:

Had to bin off my session today for the first time in 18 months. Have done something to my elbow I think getting pulled onto a platform yesterday.
Feeling frustrated and disappointed.
That's what happens when you skip breakfast!!!?! Feeling frustrated and disappointed.
I am hoping it is just bruised. Cardio for me later.
At what point do you say something in the gym? I don't like to give people advice and I know it's never welcome but today two lads were squatting in the rack facing the room not the mirror swaying wildly to the point one of them fell to the side with the bar.
I could feel my discs popping just watching.

Never nice to see people put themselves in danger. I hope you managed to avoid laughing I could feel my discs popping just watching.
I generally find if you are polite, & semi-apologetic then advice is almost always gratefully received. Only done by me if death is imminent or the machine is being incorrectly used.
My favourite is the Seated Calf Raise, where some people do a movement akin to a mini leg-press. . . . simply point out that the only movement is at the ankle joint.

I don't unless they're going to damage some equipment I'm going to use, or they're going to hurt someone other than themselves. Last person I offered advice to complained to the staff I was harassing him. In truth it was less advice and more threats/swear words. Next session the fool broke one end of a 20kg Oly bar deadlifting and dropping the bar between reps. Of course after making a tt of himself he never came back.popeyewhite said:

Of course after making a tt of himself he never came back.I give people advice if they ask for it or if they work in with me and they're clearly not sure what they're doing. If not I leave them alone unless they're endangering me or the equipment. With the amount of stuff on the internet these days there's no excuse to have stty form to the point where it's dangerous.

Firstly, I would like to refute any suggestion that I intentionally took GW1516 metabolites. I have absolutely no incentive to take PEDs ion any way and it strongly goes against my core values as a person and a competitor.
Sure thing...I really just wish banned athletes would come clean and say "yeah, I was doping. Everyone else is also doping and you have to if you want to be competitive".

Nah, it's okay it was .."only in tablet form" I really just wish banned athletes would come clean and say "yeah, I was doping. Everyone else is also doping and you have to if you want to be competitive".
What's amazing though is that he allowed himself to get caught. I imagine most of the Xfit pros have used gear.
On another note it's amusing how Xfit has set itself up with its own doping rules..like it's some multi international sporting organisation, dedicated to promoting amateur sport through non profit making gov sponsored training camps, with the emphasis on good clean safe training techniques.
Not my moan but a work colleague...
(female).
they were basically having a moan saying too many of the after work gym classes at our work gym are weights/lifting related, and not cardio. her view was that she couldn't see the point in women lifting weights unless you was trying to pack on muscle or doing it somewhat seriously in the pursuit of competitive lifting.
as someone who has some back problems.. it was a little of a challenge to not go on a rant. (but i welcome opinions on her statement)

Squat rack in our gym is substantial but not bolted down, I use it occasionally and am always amazed to find it sitting skew, not square with wall. This drives me loopy. I am not an ocd straighten pictures kinda guy but if you are squatting, pressing, rowing, it's surely best to be square with the wall you are looking at...or...am I a weirdo?
