I dislike the cleaner colliding with my training time, she has all day to clean ffs! 2 people in the gym is just too much in my opinion
Also, she doesnt put my weights back on the rack in the correct order! must have a word..
Seriously though, when i train at our local public gym, people are very courteous and very tidy, no steroid users either and very few knuckle draggers, a recent increase in a certain ethnic group has seen a little rise in volume but still perfectly acceptable..
Do you no longer have your 'home' gym? It looked well equipped. Also, she doesnt put my weights back on the rack in the correct order! must have a word..

We now have the ‘basic-fit’ chain in bergerac which we use occasionally to make us appreciate our home gym, though its pretty good tbh.
went today at peak time (6pm). sall the racks were being used up, so waited (about 5min). noticed one knob using dumbells to do some kind of deadlift. wasn't even using the rack at all. (except to use those spotting platforms for bench press as a somewhere to sit.
another guy. deadlifts 150kg. used up 4x20kg plates, 4x10kg plates and 2x5kg plates......once he;s done he just leaves it there and goes onto do something else. he seems to be a regular too, is there every day. spends a long time talking to everyone, trying to know everyone. ive been going to that gym for about 5 years now casually. whilst i recognise faces i dont know anyones names..except for this guy (and he now knows mine too). hope this guy doesn't try and strike up too much conversation. i like go go in, do my exercise and get out. during that time i focus on what im doing/reflect. i don't need to speak to people.

People that use specific bits of equipment to do exercises that can easily be done with free weights or literally have a dedicated machine for such.
The other day I witnessed a young lad (early twenties) remove the wide grip bar from the cable pulldown machine, take it downstairs, attach it to the TRX machine to do...shrugs. Shrugs! fking wker.
Actually, what made him a fking wker wasn't the fact he was taking up a piece of equipment that he didn't actually require, it was the fact that he then left the goddamn bar downstairs next to the TRX machine where anyone with half a brain would be thinking "why the hell is this down here?".
If there's one thing I hate in the gym it's having to hunt all over the damn gym for a specific bit of kit because some fkwomble has picked it up and hidden it away so he can do some bullst, made-up (in most cases) exercise when perfectly acceptable pieces of kit that do the job a million times better already exist!

I doff my hat to you guys, how on earth do you put up with it, id have been locked up for assault by now, fair play to ur.
Access to a wide range of facilities (inc a pool), classes, extensive range of equipment, sauna... for about £20 a month? It’s a struggle but someone has to do it.
Moved jobs. Now need a gym near work as going near home isn't an option as it's too much hassle of an evening.
London prices suck balls and commuting by motorbike doesn't help!!
Puregym: £37 + £20 joining fee. 10 min walk from office.
David Lloyd: £120 + £50 joining fee. 5 min walk from office.
Healthclub at work: £350 discounted to £100. 2 min walk from desk.
Puregym don't supply towels, so not only would I be taking office clothes in my backpack I'd need to take gym gear + towel.
David Lloyd supply towels. So I wouldn't need to take one. But their prices are kinda insane for what's offered. I would have access to a gym near home for weekends.
Work health club is basically empty all day except for people using the spa or restaurant. They supply towels so lunch visits are an option.
Work health club option is probably the easiest but I'm kinda reluctant to pay 3 figures to lift things up and put them down and then wash myself afterwards.

I know the PureGym & David Lloyd figures are monthlies, but the work health club?
Tell me the undiscounted price isn't per month?
Mind you, the DL numbers are just as bad. 120 quid a month? fk me.
I'm £19 at my PureGym!
If the act of carrying a towel is the only thing putting you off PG, just buy a microfiber travelling towel.

Healthclub at work just has a standard staff rate which is £100 a month, no join fee. It's a 6 month contract which then moves to rolling until you either cancel or leave the business when it automatically stops. Tell me the undiscounted price isn't per month?

Undiscounted price is £350 per month + joining fee which they wouldn't tell me. You get the picture! I'd link it but it gives away where I work. I asked about buying a locker to leave shoes and stuff in the gym and it was £500 a year for a small one. The prices are a joke, I'm only considering it as it's £100 with discount which is cheaper than the best non-work option.
DL is £120 a month if you want a towel when you go or £110 without a towel!! Off peak is was either £72 or £92 a month. Both options give you access to any club. Off peak is between 11 and 4 on weekdays and after 2 on weekends.
Gyms near home are all £20 - 40 depending on chain but would require riding home, locking bike, changing, packing gym stuff, walking to gym and then walking home OR taking chains & locks to secure the bike near the gym which would eventually get stolen.

Jesus Christ. 350pcm *plus* a joining fee? fk the fk off!
Dude, learn how to pack intelligently, save yourself money and hassle - join PureGym!
It's not just the packing issue. I want to go in my lunch break which is 1 hour long. I can't go in my lunch break unless I take a towel as I'm not going to the THAT guy. If I factor in the walking and showering I'd get maybe 35 minutes of workout time session. The rest would be walking and showering. Dude, learn how to pack intelligently, save yourself money and hassle - join PureGym!
I already carry a laptop (sometimes 2) and whole outfit for work + shoes in my backpack. I'd then also need to take fresh gym clothes (shorts + top + socks + undies), maybe training shoes unless I left them at my desk + towel. It's a lot on the train let alone bike!
It's just a whole hassle so I'm moaning about it!!

Could go on the way home from work but I'd also need to think about bike security on top of all the stuff I'd need to take - work outfit, gym outfit etc...
It's just all hassle. Might as well just get really fat again!
