Not sure this is the right thread, but maybe look at what you're eating more than how much.
Try reducing processed foods and concentrate more on whole foods.
Maybe try one of the de rigueur diets like ketogenic or intermittent fasting. They may not be the cure-all sometimes portrayed, but they can be beneficial for some.
Quit or reduce alcohol intake.

As I cant do weights at the moment, Does any one have any tips on how to try and lose some weight. I really don't think I eat a lot.

Cheers.
Without wanting this to turn into a weight loss thread..

The only way is a calorie deficit. How you do that is up to you. But so many people think they don't eat alot but have no idea of how many cals they do it, and how many they need. plenty other threads on here about it.
in short.
- look up BMR/TDEE calculators
- start counting your calories and see how much you are actually eating. (if you arnt losing weight then your eating maintance)

I am doing a lot of walking at the moment, there is a large oval about 1.5 miles from home (I am guessing a 1Km circuit), so I go there, there are quite a few walkers down there, as it just gets us away from the traffic fumes. Why do some people insist on going the wrong way?

Ha, Ha... The best reason I could come up with is so they get even sun burn, but that is good too.

That is what I would think, stick to the left and if they are cute I get out of their way they thank you and we start a 2m conversation. For some reason there are some people (who must on taking something), that feel they should do the opposite to everyone else, you can see the whole track so why go against the flow of people? Why?

When I was running competitively a decade ago part of my training was speed work on a track. Once a week for four months. Each month we would change direction to avoid uneven wear on the inside knee (effect of camber etc). Not sure that's happening here though biggrin

I don't think I need to worry about uneven wear on the inside of my knee,... One leg has a lot more bone than the other, so I will have to try and wear that one and eventually they might match!

The walking opposite to others, is from the point of view that the track is only about 2m wide, everyone is try to keep their distance from others for fear of catching something. So why intentionally cause a problem? It is like farting in a lift, why do something that will annoy those around you. Might ask them tomorrow?

Maybe they are more interested in getting on with their lives than getting hysterical about a minuscule risk.

Maybe they are just Ba/*5t*s who are just trying to cause a nuisance, the risk isn't tiny, especially when many people have quite serious medical conditions.

If they want to take that risk with their health that is their decision, go and lick the door handle of every shop, but don't force your decision on others. The one thing that has been highlighted by this crisis is many people have never had to deal with long term medical conditions, or been seriously ill. So they don't understand what it is like, and why some people are risk averse.

1 in 1,700 people has the virus and your risk of catching it from running past someone with it is a fraction of a percentage point. Panic about it if you want, but you should also then panic about the risk of being hit by lightning or having your hair suddenly burst into flames or your feet fall off.

Yeah, it doesn't seem that difficult to enforce distancing in a gym - allow half capacity in at a time, close the areas where people just hang out (cafes, etc.) to get people in and out quicker, no group classes and that should keep it all a bit quieter in the gyms. Then have lots of bottles of disinfectant about so people can spray down their dumbbells, locker handles, etc.

Barely any extra tax income though, unlike the hospitality industry...

True. The stark reality is that opening gyms does not fit with the plan at all. The plan may be stupid but one element must be focusing on where the money is.

on happier news, my mate in the USAF posted that he was at a gym at an RAF base.

His wing commander (my mates an officer), has been hard on his unit on travel restrictions whereas other bases have been allowed similar relaxations to us so quite surprising that he was allowed to go.

So sounds like some are starting to open up. Im still thinking mid-July for us as a European country is opening their gyms this weekend and where they go, we follow a few weeks later
