Looks like gyms will re-open from the 25th july!...whicb is a saturday..might give that weekend a miss.
Yep, annoys me too. Why do they open stuff up on a Saturday? It's not really fair on the businesses; doesn't give them a chance to test new systems.

And I wanted to be one of the first into the shiny, clean, post-lockdown gym on International Chest Day hehe

Got further info from my gym. one of the 'BETTER' brand of gyms
- will open on day 1.
- you have to book a time slot
- slot is 1 hour long
- no use of changing rooms.

I'm never really in there longer than 1hour so I don't mind too much.. I wonder what it'll do for others who hang around longer? One time i trained with my friend who did splits...we ended up being there 2hours. That's why i prefer compound. 2-3 big movements all done in an hour.

Pretty miserable to be limited to 1 hour. 1hr 30 would be much better.

Stop staring at the gym bunnies or frog eyes and the time flies quickly

I wonder when they'll let thai boxing and stuff restart? I'm guessing it won't be till next Spring?!

I'd like to imagine that the change probably wont be permanent. THat maybe after afew months they wont limit numbers/require booking. its an odd one really.. you can lift/do cardio in a room with 10-30 other people spaced out.. but you can't spar 1on1 with just 1 person.

I hope that my gym brings out more equipment (they stored away half the power racks and more of the weights). I think it makes sense to have more weights on the floor as people are less likely to share. something that's become common during peak times for the 10kg plates.

Getting peeps to do shorter more intensive workouts cannot be a bad thing in the long run. Helps to focus the mind!

How do they plan to kick out those lingering beyond the 1hr time slot?

Presumably you can store your stuff in the changing room, but showers are cordoned off?

Is anyone going gym when they open tomorrow?

I've finally registered for booking now. My local you can book at 10minute increments (8:10, 8:20, 8:30 etcc...) with a maximum of 15 people for each one of the 10minute 'slots'. the slots are for just going in. You still have a max of 1hour a day.

I wonder how The Gym will operate. I assume I need to pay up front to be able to login to see how they are organising the bookings.

if you have a membership you probably haven't connected/linked your membership. I've done this. I had an issue with this. the page for it has you putting in your Bet Id, and other personal info. despite my info being 100% correct it couldn't validate it. i ended up calling them up (waited half an hour) they reset the password so i could merge my 'booking account' with my membership.

I went at around noon today. There's a grace period of about 5minutes either side of your booking time. a 1 way system around the gym halls and then in the gym (but nobody really followed that because it wasn't busy). stuff for cleaning all over the place. it was good to see people cleaning down equipment before and after they used it.

they did specify go to the gym on your own, not in grroups.. yet when i turned up 6 lads (all together..dressed in black as if their clothes were more important than working out) went in.

They never mentioned toilets would be closed.. slightly annoying if you drank a great deal of water before/during your workout.

How does it work? Is it sort of one in, one out? One hour slots?

Mine's not opening - a medium size chain. Posted in flowery language 'it's not worth it'. Still charging a £10/month retainer.

Yup. Was doing DB chest presses yesterday...with massive 20kg ones! biggrin

I'm hoping for a single pull-up later.
