We have a friend who has Been battling cancer of around 5yrs now.
The cancer has come back in her liver so is now preparing for another operation and was also told by her consultant to start looking at hospices.
She’s 48.....
Last summer I lost a good friend and ex-workmate (who I'd known and worked with since we teenagers) to aggressive liver cancer, he was only 49.The cancer has come back in her liver so is now preparing for another operation and was also told by her consultant to start looking at hospices.

3 months from going to GP, to passing away in a hospice
He had had a tumor in one of his eye balls back when he was 20/21 which they got rid off and 10 years later had given him a clean bill of health, but when he was diagnosed with the liver cancer, the consultant oncologist told him that the liver cancer was almost certainly secondary cancer to the one treated back when he was 20/21 and he'd been living with an undiscovered 'timebomb' for the last 25+ years.
Another close mate of both of us from our training days in the early 80's was also battling inoperable pancreatic cancer at the time, and he passed away 2 months ago, he was 53.

I knew two guys, 47 and 53, that were both taken very quickly by pancreatic cancer. That one really is hideous
My last post was about my dad being diagnosed with Prostate cancer. He's now going through his Chemo, 2 down with 4 to go. The chemo hasn't hit him too hard yet but he did end up in hospital last week with a urine infection. His temperature got to 39 and he reported projectile vomiting that wouldn't have been out of place in the Exorcist but now recovered and being released today.
However as life traditionally goes, it's now thrown another curve ball at me and my wife now has had a scare. Following an unusual bleed at the weekend she has an urgent referral on Thursday morning which could be a symptom of womb cancer.
Trying to be positive as it could well be something less severe but it's scared the st out of me

Sorry to hear all of this . Can I ask the age of your wife ? It may be a good heads up for others of a certain age. However as life traditionally goes, it's now thrown another curve ball at me and my wife now has had a scare. I find as I’m now in my 50’s I hear far more of people my age being diagnosed.
I remember when the cancer rate was 1 in 3 people but now it’s 1 in 2.
Scares me terribly

My best mate for 35 years. Was playing cricket end of August. Started feeling unwell early September with chest infection type issues.
Couldn't shake it off and ended up in hospital early October.
Diagnosed with liver, lung, pancreatic and bone cancer.
Lasted a week, was 54.
Funeral on Thurs. I'm carrying him in and utterly dreading it.
Gutted.

My sailing buddy passed away Saturday Lung Cancer not quite two years since first diagnosis. first treatment improved his fitness but the treatment earlier this year had little or no effect and he was virtually housebound these last 3 or 4 months. I am wondering whether it might be better to just wait outside the Crem for the next one 3 in just 5 months. Have you ever noticed how the scumbags and wasters never get so much as a Cold

3 in 5 months of people you knew , that’s terrible and sorry to hear. How old was your pal if I can ask ?
Seeing an alarming pattern in age of friends hitting 50 and it all going wrong
