Had it done, 2nd injection stung a damn sight more than the first, but other than that, fine.
3 days gentle recovery and no post op issues what so ever..

A mate had a vasectomy a few months ago, he booked 3 days off work to relax, had the op in the morning and all went well, by mid afternoon he was back in work, no pain at all and all seems well so far.
The only thing he did is wear really tight pants.
Everyone is going to have a different experience but it's not all bad news.
This. Mine was quick, recovery was quick.

I was advised to wear 3 pairs of briefs. Believe me, you don't want any dangling. All in all, a bit of pain and a few days relaxing.

On the plus side, I'm always ready to go! wink

Easy peasy.

I took the day off work and had the following day off anyway, I rocked up at a Drs. Surgery and sat with a group of men who were having the same procedure and as typical with men you don't know, no one spoke to each other.

I was called by a nurse and had my blood pressure taken to make sure all was fine, then I was taken up to the room where I was greeted by another nurse and the doctor.

I removed my trousers and undergarments and hopped on the table thing; no shaving required, had a couple of injections to numb the area a few snips here and there and a burning smell; all whilst the nurse was chatting to me, a swab was placed on the area; no stitches, pants pulled up and sent on my way, the whole procedure took 10/15 minutes.

A few hours later after sitting with my legs up the ache set in; a dull ache like you have been kicked in the groin but nothing too bad.

The only issue I had was going from tight pants back to my boxers too early and going to the gym mid week after the op on Saturday; I should have given it a week or so before hitting the gym.

It is a piece of piss.

Same as mine, take it easy in the following days....

I slipped up by letting my kids clamber over me and generally beat the st out of me straight after.........

I paid the price.

A chap I know is a urologist... He regularly performs the ops. I was talking to him about the pros and cons. My final question was 'so, would you have it done?' His answer: 'no'.

Apart from a minor bit of pain, which was 20 years ago, I am struggling to think of any cons.

It isn't in the testicle, it's in "the bag".

Not as bad as it sounds, it is the same pain you get as you are being jabbed at the dentist....But it is in your ball bag!

I had no pain from the injection when the area was being numbed; I guess it all depends on the individual person.

Did he elaborate on why?

Had it done a good few years back. No great pain but the worst bit, for me, was the 'tugging' sensation as you could feel them working down there - it felt like a winding sensation, similar to being hit in that area with a football.
Recovered fine after a day or so rest just make sure you take it easy as you will be delicate for a good few days.

Didn't hurt at all much to my surprise. Chatted to the surgeon during about building work and random stuff. Didn't really feel anything with no pain issue after whatsoever. However my mate, who is no wimp, had the same op a few months later and was in considerable pain so I guess it depends on the technical skill of the surgeon.

It's not too bad at all, I took a week off work but fitted a kitchen in that time as well. Get a good jockstrap and keep the stitch site clean you should be ok, horror stories do happen though but they do with all minor operations.

The idea of a 4th child scared me so much to be honest I would have cut them off with a pair of rusty scissors.

My experience (c&p from a previous thread):

I'd agree that supportive underwear for at least a week (and probably far more) is pretty much essential - makes a far bigger difference than you think.

I had a bit of a nightmare experience - they forgot anaesthetic on the second side and I jerked hard as the scissors went in which cause them to create an exit wound. That took a while to heal and hurt pretty badly when it happened. It did heal eventually though...

Side effect for me has been a large increase in sex drive though - it was high enough before but since the op healed it has been through the roof.

I might add that the nurse assisting the doctor with mine, is married to a mate who I played rugby with. Apparently she has 'handled' half the club.
Still at least she didn't laugh whilst I was there.

Same for me. More pain during the procedure than after as they did not use enough local. Hardly any discomfort afterwards. Dentist is much worse.

Just investigating this now, wifey been told to knock the pill on the head & after 3 offspring its time to MTFU.
Is there vast difference in service between the NHS & the likes of Bupa etc?
Doing a desk job & getting it done on a Thursday/friday & back at work for monday doable?
I am okay with the burning smell (had my eyes lasered, no one told me about the smell up front) it the odd pulling sensation that will have me barfing frown
