I love coffee. I drink lots of it every day & usually look forward to the first cup of the day.

Not that instant ste in a jar, Guatemalan ground goodness from a hot drip machine.

Went down with man flu 10 days ago. I haven't had this for a little over 2 years & 10 days after that last occurrence, GBS * promptly turned up.

Now I find I have zero appetite for coffee.

During the depths of the flu when the pharynx feels like swallowing carpet tacks, I usually imbibe a hot water, honey, lemon & brandy solution when the need arises. A few days later, I'd be back on the black stuff (I drink it black, without sugar).

But the thought of it now leaves me cold.

Post GBS has left me somewhat compromised with recurring bouts of chronic fatigue & this man flu really knocked me for six (compared to previous times), mainly fatigue rather than actual illness. I'm also probably suffering some sort of caffeine withdrawal.

A life without coffee though, is there any point?

I've been a coffee drinker for years and of late I was drinking 4-5 cups a day of strong stuff. Costa near work, Nespresso and stove top coffee at home.

3 weeks ago I gave it up, for no real reason. Cold turkey and replaced it with peppermint tea.

I no longer feel the urge or need to have it, especially milky/latte style. I feel better for it as well.

Yes, there is. If you don't care for it any more, don't have it. Over the years I've gone from having coffee of various types, to having tea, to having nothing and vice-versa in varying order. Currently I have a cup 'o tea when I get to work in the morning and at around 10am I have a cup of Malaysian Nescafe three-in-one! You could just about say I don't drink coffee nowadays.

I had the flu just over a month ago now, and Im still weak and trying to recover some of the stone or more of the weight I lost.

Due to how I am feeling I havent had coffee for over a month now, but today Im going to give it a go again, and buy a proper coffee (god knows I need it today).

No idea if I'll actually enjoy it or end up throwing it in the bin, but what Im getting at is that it's taken me one month and three days since man flu began to even feel like one, so it's just a case of giving it time I recon, you're appetite for it may return.

I hope so, 3 weeks & no sign of returning.

Am drinking tea, which brings issues of it's own as I haven't dunked biscuits for years & my technique is rubbish.

Had a soya latte last week and it was really nice, so my appetite for it has returned and am enjoying the odd coffee.

Im not an every day coffee drinker, so it's 2 or 3 "proper" coffee's a week usually.
