4 months in and 17kg down. It's easy and certainly feels healthy!

What did you cut out completely, if anything, or just cut back on. I could do with losing a stone

Sugar, starch and grain really. I've not eaten any potatoes or other below-ground veg in 4 months.

I found it really easy and feel great. Halfway through my weightloss had stalled but I think I was eating too much protein, I reigned that back in and it continued.

I'm now not counting macros or anything now. The other night I had 3 beers and a wrap-based pizza (20g carbs in the wholemeal wrap) with no ill effects or weight gain.

Been lurking & reading here. Did Atkins around 15 years ago, lost 4 stone but put it all back on.
Read this thread & went back on low carbs, highish protein. Have lost a shade under 2 stone (27.8lbs) in 23 weeks & feel much better for it. Got at least the same to go again, just about to holiday in the USA so will be interesting to see how good I can be.
Wife has lost quite a bit as well on it, she started 4-5 weeks after me though, but is generally more active.

Good going. You will eventually plateau at your natural biological weight and stay there so long as you maintain ketosis. May I ask out of curiosity if you intend to continue the lifestyle after this happens?

I think I’m probably nearing that point now. 6’4” and 13st 9lb.

I fully intend to keep it going as long as it feels good, I’ve no desire to go back to carbs at all. It would be an effort to be honest.

Excellent. If you’re feeling great and not counting anything, then your body has really found the groove and is settling into perfect homeostasis. Eating everything you like to complete satiety without ever gaining or losing a pound irrespective of your physical activity. That’s keto nirvana biggrin

Thanks for the advice & encouragement Kenny, I appreciate it. There’s 3 blokes at my work trying it now on my advice (though I keep catching one of them smashing in pastries at morning coffee time rolleyes )

No problem. I’m passionate about proper nutrition and I enjoy blathering on about it, so happy to help.

Those blokes at work may struggle if they’re still carb monsters. High fat and high carb is just going to turn them into bloaters laugh

Spent last week in Menorca. cool
1. Breakfast consisted of chorizos, jamón serrano and various local cheeses.
2. Tapas including baby octopus legs, meatballs, chicken wings, etc. plus a few olivas.
3. Some excellent veal steaks, king prawns, mussels and local fish.

Had I not indulged the local vi negre it would have been the perfect keto/carni holiday.

I like the xoriguer gin...low carb too!

I did something very similar while there in July, it's an easy way to live.

I'm doing the whole 8/16 fasting thing now, I only eat between 12 noon and 8pm and it works a treat. Never hungry thumbup

I am on a carnivore diet, heard a podcast by @sbakermd that inspired me to start on it. He also rows, and so I went out and bought Concept 2 which I am loving with free weights/5x5 on top.

It is cheaper, and far easier than a "normal diet" and I feel awsome, no keto flu at all.

Thinking about starting the carnivore diet seems to be getting fantastic results http://meatheals.com/

Seems very similar to Keto which I like but removes veggies which I've always hated to be fair eating meat for every meat only seems very tempting to me.
How are you two getting on, still carnivores?

grumbledoak - how about you, have you started?

Yes, I did the 30 day challenge - just "beef, salt, water" for August. Even gave up my morning espresso, which was the hardest part of transitioning for me. I would expect "keto flu" if you are still eating Frosties for breakfast.

You are apparently supposed to eat until "Thanksgiving full", and my body quickly decided that was about seven steaks a day. So, unable to run due to Plantar Fasciitis and eating an average 500kcal per day surplus, in the first three weeks I lost 5kg, one jeans size, and I need a new belt. My belly fat is all but gone.

This month I've added eggs, salmon, and a bit of cheese to give me some variety, but I am still zero carb. I plan continuing.

Thanks. I've been doing a little reading lately and going to give it a try, if for no other reason than 'because it's there'.
We may have to start a topic, but I suspect 'meat and water today. Again.' may get a little repetitive. 😉

I found that "keto flu" is simply a result of too little salt in my diet , adding a little himalayan salt into a water bottle sorted it out

Worth noting for those that care. You probably won’t maintain nutritional ketosis on a carnivore diet.
