Anyone found any edible substitutes? Cauliflower rice is not one of them, but we had some Soyabean spaghetti last night which was ok though. Once it was plastered in mince with home made bol sauce it was a decent meal.
fresh pasta made from chickpea is quite palatable, and I don't mind the egg noodles.

I don't find caulirice offensive myself but its certainly not something I'd miss were there a better alternative, I've wondered what it'd be like if one dried it out first and allowed it to rehydrate by absorbing the flavour of whatever sauce you're using.

Chickpea pasta is lower carb, but not Keto suitable like Soya, aren't egg noodles normal pasta?
She tried a Fathead dough base for a pizza, but I thought it was foul. I've found a way of making low carb pizzas is to use a Tortilla wrap as the base. Wholemeal is healthy, but white more tasty obvs.

I made cauliflower rice on Fri eve to go with a chicken curry. I added lots of salt, black pepper and a squirt of lemon juice to give it a bit more oomph. It was a nice alternative.

Day 7 for me today: I went on the scales for 1st time this morning. I've lost 2.2kg. smile
I suspect a lot of that has come from zero beers (I LOVE lager!) and lots of gym circuits and swimming; they're open here under strict rules.

We do the same with our cauliflower rice but fry it in coconut oil which adds a lovely extra flavour, adding some or all of chilli, garlic, ginger and spring onion also works well.

I find whether or not cauliflower rice is an acceptable substitute depends on what you're having it with.

A curry with a really thick sauce - such as a Beef Rendang - great
A curry with a fairly runny sauce - such as a Thai Green Curry - not great
As the main ingredient in "Lardo Fried Rice" - vaguely tolerable, but not worth repeated.

Lardo Fried Rice is such a great Keto dish - apart from the "Rice" bit - not sure what else to try it with (cauliflower wasn't great - see above).

My trick for making cauli rice far better is to roast it first laid out on a sheet and allow some of the edges to catch a bit. Better texture and flavor

Seems like a plan. I've tried to get it to catch a bit when sauteeing, but I think it just tends to mush up a bit - perhaps because the steam can't so easily escape?

For cauliflower rice I blitz it in a food processor then spread it out thinly on a baking tray and stick it in a low oven until brown at the edges.

I find it goes best in a curry mixed up as a biryani.

I just toss it in a wok with some gee, cumin and a pinch of turmeric.

Keto alternative to steak fajitas.....

I switched flour tortillas for cauliflower rice. Guacamole and grated cheese added after the photo.

It was very nice!

A friend of ours found out we were on Keto and sent us one of these

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rossa-450-Zero-Sugar-Piem...

I have to say it's not bad. Tastes a little watered down and compared to spending the same on a normal bottle it's not great but for a relatively "healthy" treat I would say try it.

No idea how they get it to 0 carbs and 0 sugar

Weight is still coming off me pretty quickly, hit the halfway point today to my goal weight. (goal weight around 90kg, this'll be exactly 1/3 of my body weight lost). I'm now 112kg on the dot meaning I've lost 23kg or 50lb. Joints feel massively improved - I don't grunt and groan when getting up for a piss while watching TV after work. In fact I spring up off the sofa, it's unbelievable how much better I feel. Have plenty of salad with pretty much every meal now, less of the all-meat fry ups - tend to have 100g of salad, with dressing, 2 eggs and one type of meat for breakfast. Have plenty of options for tea. Usually go over my carb limit (20g) usually more like 27-28ish lately, but doesn't seem to be affecting anything. Calorie wise I often have high 3 figures left over, sometimes over 1000 left over, not intentional just can't eat enough to get the calories in!

Not eating until I get home from work is now the norm and not difficult at all.

Also, celeriac is a lifesaver! You won't even want normal chips made from potato after having these.

This one was due to having to use stuff before it went out of date...:

There's very little carbs in regular wine, people frown over the alcohol content more although that didn't stop me shedding the weight, I'd just get a nice one and enjoy it.

Well done on the weight loss!

I second the thoughts on celeriac fries. I only eat in the evening now as like you I have found I'm just not hungry during the day. I do seem to be stuck at 100kg though.

Fellow PH keto'ers.... I need your advice / help, please.

It was a beautiful day today. I went cycling for the first time this year. I went a bit mad, lacked fuel internally for my ride (I'd usually have had bananas, haribo, cereal bars... Or a cake with my coffee. All not possible at the moment.)

Bummer.

Anyway, 100km later, I felt fine. Reached home. Stopped cycling. Got the shakes. Worrying.
I'd tanked. I had zero left in me.
According to my GPS / HRM, I'd burned >5,000 calories with only water and coffee intake.

After about 30 minutes I went and had a shower. I got out, dried myself, looked in the mirror. My face was grey / green. I was sick. Violently sick. frown

TLDR ; What foods can / should I eat when I'm out cycling to prevent this "tanking", please?

I'm no cycling genius, but 100km on no fuel seems madness! :-o

Have had the shakes and nausea reaction before (cycling up a mountain when really I had zero fitness). Back at the hotel, I was grey and my innards also objected (luckily, downwards direction). I won't be repeating that.

I was all ready to jump in with some priceless pearls of keto-biking wisdom.
Right up until I saw the bit about riding 100KM.
I normally manage about 20 on my MTB.

Yeah I've got nothing to offer here, carry on laugh
