I’d say the “easy and often” thing would work; it just depends on what your abilities are, and what you want to achieve out of it.  Context is key, I reckon.
Context can either make it viable or it make it complete and utter codswollop, but ultimately, without an individual context, I don’t think it’s fair to write it off.
Quite. Anyone who writes off world champion kickboxer Firas, who is the coach of GSP, who has been described as freakishly strong by heavier fighters, would be extremely foolish. hehe

Guys, I don't give a F about Joe Rogan, so you don't need to go showing me his stuff either way. I wasn't defending him, per-se.

Burwood, I stand by what I say - context is key. You say it achieves fk all but does it? Do you have unique insight into what everyone wants to achieve?

See what I'm getting at? I don't believe you can wholesale write it off without knowing why someone might be choosing to use the protocol.

For person A it might be a good fit, for person B it might be utterly useless. Without knowing the circumstances of person A, you can't simply call it bullst.

Well good for you, that link wasn't specifically for you, your majesty, it was for anyone who wished to view it who'd like to expand their base.

Alsl, the point about goals is important. Firas and GSP need to be as strong as possible as light as possible, they sourced a method to procure this.

True to this extent:

(1) Some genetic freaks can get strong or fast or fit with very strange training protocols. See also Herschel (although I think he is on juice as well, big time).

(2) It all depends on what ability is being trained. Skill acquisition works best with frequent and fairly easy practice.

For athletic training, skill based training etc- easy and often enable you to practice more, master the movements and skills, and become a better athlete. It's also a good method to learn movement patterns when learning to lift.

For strength and bodybuilding, this isn't the case so much- its all about progressive overload, which requires effort and recovery.

The training protocols are very different depending on requirements and proposed outcomes. Both work, but each is better suited to what it achieves.

Im glad we all agree. That's settled then.

I just got back from the gym. I saw the usual suspect, a grown man in his 30's, able bodied, doing DB bench with 4kg DBs. Just after the above thread kafuffle. I did have a wee chortle.

How do you know he's not coming back from some kind of injury or starting from scratch after an operation? Could be any number of reasons why he's using 4kg DB's.

Remember Smiffy buggered up his pec? You'd have seen him at one point pressing really light DBs, where outwardly all you'd see is this big guy pressing tiny weights and you'd wonder why he's bothering.

Maybe you really DO know everything about everyone, I dunno.

That Joe Rogan regime is similar to one Pavel pioneered yonks ago. Quite useful for blasting through sticking points and getting up to high reps on, say, handstand pressups, pullups etc. You can get stronger, and you can grow....but it's one to use to shock the body every now and then, IMO, as it has several limiting factors.

Been in Toronto a week and today was the first day I strung the rings up.

No way to really do legs.

This evening I did a circuits course and a 10 minute run after with someone else from the class.

Next week I move to another area of the city a short walk to a gym I really like so that will be good!

Bench Press
Warm-up
115kg x 1
130kg x 3 (another PB!)
130kg x 1
Dips 4x20-25 (bodyweight only, rest-pause last set)
Chest Press 3x13-15 (rest-pause last set)
Pec Deck 3x15 (rest-pause last set)
