Fab shoulder and arm workout today, one of my best for a very long time, hammer strength for shoulders, decent warm up then working sets of 3 plates ether side (128ish kgs) that felt easy working up to 145kg for 5 which is a pb for reps and weight, super chuffed with that, then 2 sets of reverse grip pull downs full stack which is 200lb on our machine and two sets of preachers with the pin at 78kg, copious amounts of beta alanine and 2 espressos making their presence felt.

Then a really good solid hour on Zwift, climbers sprint and course jerseys collected, cold swim in the bay to cool off.

Back session tomorrow with the family, 65kg weighted pull up on the cards.

No training last night... Body is telling me it needs a rest so I'm gonna listen this time. Will be back in Sunday.
I have consultation with a sports physio on Monday night to look at my back. Whether it s mobility, stability, load tolerance, or movement-pattern related...Doesn't effect my training just my mornings so I know it's nothing too serious. Also see what can be done about the tendonitis in my forearms. If these two issues can be fixed or at least improved then watch out! hehe

The other night sat on the sofa, broken and in bits after BJJ, sat next to me is my son with a fat nose and blood down his t-shirt from boxing, both of us laughing at the state of each other. Hard to explain but it's a little moment in time I'll treasure. hehe

Sounds a great bit of bonding!

Hadn’t done flat bench for a few months and instead been doing a lot of incline DB’s instead…which I do prefer. Today did 100kg x 5 reps flat bench. Only managed 1 rep once before last year. Was pretty happy with that as weigh 71kg.
Main chest and triceps day on Sunday due to half term on Monday!

I’ve hit the daily 2500kcals

Still in a deficit, no weight gain…3000- 3500 is still a real target. Slowly slowly.

1 hour treadmill this morning

182.2lb, lightest I've been in adult memory.

No more training today, hoping to get into town for a bit of food and a few wines.

Enjoy your Saturday folks.

Beards? I've had one for seven years and took the bold, for me, step of trimming it right down to a relatively short goatee two weeks ago. I liked it. I trimmed it last Sunday and the clippers slipped and I took a huge chunk out of it. So. I've been clean shave for coming on a week now. I'd held onto my beard because I liked it and because it kinda hid my mouth; my teeth are appalling...but its gone now. First time I've seen my face for seven years...

One of my disarmingly honest pupils, a lovely young man with autisim related behavioural issues gave me the best feedback on seeing me cleanly shaven head and face...'I like it. You look better. You look younger. But you also look like you have cancer.....' Not a subject that usually raises a smile, but there you go. beer

No training today yet, 4.5 mile walk, 15st 13lb today so 101kg and change, not far from initial target of 100kg and last time I was in the 15st bracket I was 15 years old....

Have a great weekend all. Treated myself to a McPlant burger meal. My hedonism knows no bounds....

Peace and love all hippy

Today, really good back session, 45 minutes go weighted pull ups of every variety, 65kg single to start which is a pb, then 15 with 20kg then onto weighted finger tip pull ups with 30kg for 5 which killed, onto rope pull ups with 40kg for 3, very happy with progress on these exercises, really giving my back proper thickness.

Then 45 minutes of speed work on Zwift, climbers and sprint jerseys claimed, feeling amazing at the moment.

Had a sensible session in mind. Started off well with some incline bench, not too heavy. Then went silly on viking press, then even sillier on monster dumbbell and log. I need structure.

Pretty tired actually as had few beers yesterday, we hardly drink alcohol anymore so feel it when I do.

This morning, brutal bag lifting session, 130 reps with 65kg bag into a shoulder height box stack, 5 reps then about a 30 second break, took just over an hour, complete head fk of a session the last 20 minutes were sheer purgatory, a once every 6 week effort for sure.

Felt recovered just enough for a very quick 100km group ride on Zwift, some very quick boys on the ride meant it was done and dusted in 2hrs 16min for an average speed of 44.3kph, another great week of training in the books.

I like the sound of the bag lifting for reps. Gonna badger my gym guy and see if he will invest in some. I took the weekend off apart from walks as I'd trained, I think, 8 days straight. Back to the coalface tomorrow, second week of my new programme, let's see how this works out.
